wheel bearing, about £10 for a new one. a garage will probably need to fit it. unless you have the correct tools and a press. garage should charge around £25 to fit it.

There are a number of things that could make a humming noise in the front wheel area...tires with broken steel belts, if so it would probably have a vibration in the steering wheel as well as the hum... wheel bearings, Constant velocity joints aka. CV Joints or just something simple like a loose or torn CV Boot that covers the CV Joints can also cause noise..... first look yourself or have someone else look to see if the rubber boots are on the axles and are intact and have the clips on correctly also check the tires for any bulges or ripples in the sidewalls indicating broken belts...if the rubber CV axle boots are needing repair you will also have a dry CV-joint causing the hum or a grinding sound at very low speed (this would also be a sign of CV Joint Failure) If none of these things are evident then odds are you have a wheel bearing going bad. Mention these things to your mechanic if you take it in...Knowlege is power and if you sound like you know what you are talking about you might avert any overcharges by a greedy mechanic. Good luck on getting it fixed.

could be the wheel bearings. Jack the car up and see how much movement is in the wheel, the more there is the worse the problem, get it fixed soon as it will cause more problems if left a few weeks.

you might have a bad tire or a wheel bearing going out...If you go around a curve and the noise seems less apparent, then after the curve noise comes back, then its a wheel bearing or hub assembly..Do this get the wheels off the ground and see if you have play in the tires...can you move the tire up and down using your hands. Does it seem loose...Check all four..find the problem..

it might be your drive shaft or most likely your wheel bearing it depends if it is the back or front wheel bearing the back is more expensive than the front but either way it shouldn't break the bank !
