If I was going to London for the day, how far from the London Dungeons is The Tate Britain?

Another pleasant option you may want to consider is by boat.

The walk down to the Tate Modern along the river is a very interesting one and the views across the river to St Pauls and the city are excellent.

The walk takes you past Southwark Cathedral, Borough Market (great food), a replica of the Golden Hinde, the Clink Prison site (don't bother visiting - it's rubbish compared to the London Dungeon), the reconstructed Globe Theatre and finally the Tate Modern itself.

From there there is a fast catamaran boat featuring design by Damien Hirst, called the Tate to Tate, which will whisk you up the river to the Tate Britain for £4.30.

I assume you do mean Tate Britain rather than Tate modern - the Tate modern is actually within walking distance. To get to Tate Britain take Jubilee line northbound from London Bridge to Westminster, District/Circle westbound to Victoria then Victoria Line southbound one stop to Pimlico and a short walk. Alternatively, from Westminster, catch 87 or 88 bus from Parliament St (Whitehall) direct to the Tate (That's what I'd do).

The London Dungeon is in Southwark SE1 2SZ, nearest tube station is London Bridge.

The Tate Gallery is in Westminster SW1P 4RG and the nearest tube is Pimlico or Westminster.

They are exactly 2.9 miles apart.
