First of all Iran has no nuclear weapon and they are not developing!

let me tell a sad story!... Iran-Iraq War ( known as the Imposed War ) started by Iraq and protection of every single country in the world (US n UK n etc ...were quite unhappy caz of the Iranian revolution which happed 2 years b4 that, caz they could benefit of oil no more)...

well, the war started!... God damn Sadam got the weapons INCLUDING nuclear weapon from US and others...Iran only had the ppl who went to fight for the country... they died , they are still dieing caz of the effects of Nuclear weapons!! (My dad's friend just died caused by that! 17 years after the war!!)...

THEN, Iran thought if we had the same weapons, we could defend ourselves at least... they started to think and build the weapons themselves by their own knowledge.., that was the end of the war i guess... and they started on working nuclear power just to have the knowledge and power!... but not to develop Nuclear power!!...

thanks for ur true answers everyone... i need to mention few things here..

First of all most of u didn’t read the whole thing, i said about the war to conclude why Iran even thought of producing weapons by itself...

Secondly, of course i am upset, all Iranians are!.. But we don’t give a damn what US says about Iran...what upset me the most is that why ppl around the world actually believe them!?...

and yes, Iranian president is not a politician!.. I have no idea how he became the president!... maybe that’s how Bush became president of USA!!.. Although he hates Israel, he didn’t have right to say "Israel should be wiped outa map"...

to the guy who mentioned the hostage taking.... do u know why ppl attacked the embassy of US at that time?... caz they wanted Shah(the last king) to be arrested in Iran...as US didnt listen to them, they did the hostage thing... its true that was not a right thing to do and those hostage taker do admit it....BUT no one was hurt even!..

I sympathize with your country's situation. But you have to understand that you have been taken control under a theocracy that is ruled by an anti-semitic radical muslim. We can't trust Iran's word to say that they will only use it for nuclear power giving the history of disagreement with Israel. Ahmanidejad has said he will blow up Israel and he doens't believe the Holocaust ever happened. The Iran-Iraq war was horrible and innocent lives were lost. The U.S. at that time did help Saddam because we viewed Iran as a bigger threat. I apologize on my country's behalf. But we were nervous of a potential Middle East crisis and we tried to salvage it. It's because of this history that we can't trust Ahmanidejad because we can't run the risk of him blowing up Israel or take over a weak Iraq. If this occurs, it will expand the war in the Middle East and possibly create a WWIII which will hurt everybody. This is why we don't support nuclear development in Iran. If you can guarantee us that Iran won't blow up Israel then who knows? Until then, try to see this from our point of view.

Zoha,
I understand your position but everything in the past does not always apply to making decisions for the future. That would be flawed reasoning. We must make decisions based on logic and what is reasonable.

I don't think the Iranian people as a whole are much different than the US. It's the Iranian government that raises a lot of concern. The Iranian leader has made threats. You see the strong perversions the governement has had on the Iranian country. Should we be in denial of this hate that is fostered by the Iranian government?

No one knows God except those that God allows to know him...whether he is Christian, Jew, or Muslim. In the end I think God would judge us on our merits, not of our ethnicity. Do you think God has been talking to the President of Iran? What does your heart tell you? You don't have to answer. But we both know what the answer is. And thus the President of Iran neither knows God or what God desires. He should not be so arrogant.

The US did not give Saddam nuclear weapons to use against Iran. He used nerve gas in that war, but didn't get it from US. The US supported Iraq in that war, but were not exactly allies. One year after that war the US stopped Saddam from taking over Kuwait. Iran is run by Islamic fundamentalists who have sponsored terrorism in the past. They support Ha mas financially and advocate the destruction of Israel. Until Iran becomes a democracy and stops supporting terrorists they cannot be trusted to develop nuclear technology. The US should not invade Iran or anyone else though. The UN should impose sanctions if needed.

i believe Iran has right to defend itself, and it HAS right of nuclear weapons! Today Israel is only nation in the middle east who has nuclear weapons, their leaders are insane and war criminals (Ariel sharon is currently being tried for Sabra and Shatila massacre). We need a country to neutralize israel. Iran is brave enough so I think Iran deserves it

Your points are valid. The present warmongering government in US wants to keep the pretext for assaulting Iran alive. Besides wanting to control the oil regions, this is what the Israelis want and US government seems ready to oblige even if it means forsaking the interests of American people as well as other nations. It's like the WMD for Iraq which has caused over 400,000 deaths and God knows how much misery and devastation, but then Iran and Muslims are the big bad terrorists while those with track records of US and Israel, saturated in blood, are the good guys! Thank God, even the American people are beginning to wake up to the immense crimes committed in their names.

Hmmmm.....sounds like you are a little upset about what the U.S. is saying about Iran. You must be Iranian or a bleeding heart liberal. There are many factors to why the U.S. thinks or has said that Iran is pursuing WMDs. They might not have any but do you not think that when there own leader speaks about it that it is not somewhat true. The dictator they got in offce has said over and over that "Isreal needs to be wipped off the map". Now what exactly do you think that means. Those are not my words those are his.

So i guess there goes your peaceful bit because there leader definately is not peaceful. He hates the jews and he hates western civilization. It is not a good idea for him to keep acting in this maniac manner which ironically i feel that Bush needs to pack up and leave Iraq but that just recreates the Babylonian empire. That would pave the way for a greater Iran with Iraq together only together because they both have the same enemy the U.S.

How to start?
"Iran has no nuclear weapons." True for now.
"...they are not developing!" False. Big time lie!

"Sadam got nuclear weapons from the US..." Again False, again big time lie.

Now let me tell you a sad story. It begins with fanatic Muslims who call for the destruction of Israel and America. It continues with those same leaders calling for a Caliphate lead by Iranian Muslims. Chief among those leaders is the President who believes he can personally bring about the return of the 13th prophet by starting the Apocalypse. Chapter three shows how Iran supports terrorism all over the world with arms, leadership, money and political support. Muslim nations have bloody borders all over the world and Iran is the spider sitting in the middle of the web.

The saddest part of this story is that the Iranian people will pay for their leaders mistakes. No free people, (France excepted), will tolerant a belligerent nuclear armed Iran.

Although everyone is entitled to their opinion, I find it quite repulsive that anyone would stick up for the tyrannical Iranian regime.

This is a country that has threatened to wipe a neighboring country (Israel) off the map.

And yes, they ARE developing nukes! It's ridiculous, no offense, to think that they are not.

And unlike other countries, which use nukes as a deterrent, in Iran's case we have a wannabe nuclear power threatening one of its neighbors with extinction. Literally.

Now, with all that in mind, you're saying that this is a cool country?

The Iran-Iraq war was tragic, but it was also over 20 years ago. Let's stick to what's going on now, thank you.

no one is opposed to Iran having nuclear power. We are opposed to Iran having nuclear weapons... and why, the rhetoric of Iran's president. If you can't see that you are blind.

and what is it with people bring up the past. The past is the past, we cant change it or do anything about it. For a change why not focus of the future and where we as a race " humanity " are going.

Iran hasn't ever been behind terrorism? Are you nuts? Or just too young to remember history.

Seems to me that Iranian terrorists kept American's hostage for over a year! These were not American politicians, or American soldiers, these were the worker bees that we doing there jobs at the embassy and Iran held them hostage.

Go back and read some true history my dear.

And who are they defending themselves against now? Last I checked they were not being invaded by anyone.
