We have 3 kiddie winks and the decs have gone up earlier each time one was born. Although we probably start around the 1st of December now and we put up bits at a time - ceiling ones first, then a couple of days later the tinsel around pics etc, and then maybe the lights around windows, then the tree, and to finish off some balloons which go up last always as they tend to go down if put up to early. This routine seems to help build the excitement as they see things going up bit by bit. They have also started to make their own paper chains and decorations to put up in their room. The decs usually come down 12 days after boxing day as its supposed to be bad luck to keep them up for longer. Hope you have a really fun first christmas together.

It is not too early. I already have my tree up and most decorations up. I just lack the outside lights of being done with everything. I love this time of year so I say put it up and don't worry about what other's think. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

We put ours up as soon as the Thanksgiving turkey is done and over with, I hate to ignore Thanksgiving, so we wait until this Holiday is observed before putting up decorations. But we literally put the tree up that night after dinner, so we can enjoy it for awhile--been a tradition with my kids forever.
I already have a room full of gifts wrapped and ready to put under it.

Where children are concerned it is never too early for Christmas decorations, more the merrier.
Make it a game by encouraging you little one to decorate. Thus it will stretch out and not seem too early for the decorations.

For a house where people live, I would suggest that 2 weeks before Christmas is plenty of time. Do it at the weekend, 2 weeks before Christmas.
For retail outlets , the last weekend in October is becoming popular for hanging up the decorations,. But for normal , sane Europeans 2 weeks is plenty.

I think it's down to personal preference, but for what it's worth in my opinion yes, it is too early - just. For me, Christmas starts on Advent - that is, December 1st - and I think that's the earliest one should put up the decorations. But, if like me you really love Christmas and just can't wait for the 1st or later, do what makes you happy and go decorations crazy now!

It's my first christmas with my little one too, which means i'm about a hundred times more excited about christmas as usual (and it's normally a lot anyway!!) But i still think you should wait til at least december to put up your tree and decorations, that way it's not too long to wait but still nerarer christams, and lets fdace it christmas is all about being excited and impatient but having to wait anyway!!

When you put up the decorations is up to you -- put up a few each day and see how your little one will enjoy seeing all the pretty things -- the only thing is do not put the presents around the tree until christmas eve -- hope you have a really good christmas and enjoy every minute of it -- HO HO HO.

If Christmas is all year-round, why wait? Go ahead and put all your decorations up. Why ask opinions? It's your home. Let your offspring enjoy the Season a while longer.
