The reason u cant concentrate is you dont like what u r reading. Ask yourself what r things u like to read- films, comics, sports or etc. U will be amazed to find there are so many subjects/topics u love to read. The same u who hate studying. We don't like to study because we are rather forced to read to pass the exam, score marks. The compulsion makes us repulsive towards studying. So u must come out first from this repulsion by suggesting to yourself the benefit of learning. A projection of your career ahead if your results are good can help u to love studying. There are many ways to improve
concentration and memory. But try this, keep a magazine or whatever else you like to read handy during studying, whenever u fel bored in studying read that mag for a while then again start reading the school book. Never sudy/write or do math plugging your ear to music your mind needs single object to concentrate.

Well each person is different, but I will tell you what I did (and still do at varsity)

Try getting yourself one of those energy drinks or tablets (especially one containing Ginseng).

When studying, make notes of key facts and points.
Study for 45minutes, then take a short break of about 15minutes.

After completing a section, review what you have studied, look at your notes and see how much you can remember. I f you cannot recall something, study it again.

Try making mental images and ways to recall facts. If I have to remember a list of points, I make a word from the points
Or envision yourself in a room looking at the stuff. Mental pictures work great.

If you feel tired, take a break. It is no use studying then as your brain is telling you to get some rest.

Very important, get at least 8hrs of sleep a night. That way, you will feel more refreshed. Also drink plenty of water and eat healthily - it does make a difference

Good Luck

Using flash cards will help with vocabulary and meaning of content. I always suggest students go through the cards and keep taking out cards that you know. You will end up with the hardest ones left to concentrate on.
Read without the TV or radio on. Do it in small intervals. Break the study time up by doing a little each day or night.
Talk about the assignment with another student to get their insight. You may remember their words better than the written word.
Pay attention in class and homework will become easier. The homework that I assign is usually a review of what we already did, so it makes it easier to do if you are already familiar with it.
Hope this helps you!

Things that have helped me study better.
1. Flash cards ( do them until you know most of the answers)
2. take 10 minz to review your notes everyday when you come home the fact that read them over again will help you retain the material.
3. study in the middle of the day not at night cuz that's when you going to get tired
4. right before a test brush up on everything really quickly so the information will remain fresh.
5. for an extremely hard class tape record the class sessions and listen to them and try to get the important parts out of them.

oh believe me I had and still do have the same problem. The only way I can get anything done is 2 wake up earlier work out get ready, eat, and do my studying. This is when you have the most energy, I dont think i have ever opened a book after 5 pm. I get all my work finished in the morning.
