even now most of the Chinese are Buddhists. they did not rejected it. but officially Chinese communist party declared chin as an atheist country.but now the people are given freedom to follow their religious path and even the government is extending hand to develop Buddhists temples and stopped harassing Buddhist monks.because of fear of being prosecuted by the government, the chinese in the past could not openly declare that they are buddhists.
