Sex crimes, and any mental injury (which is really what sex crimes are ... assaults on the mind) is horrible, and I have an idea of what that sort of pain is like because I'm disabled and tormented from a chemical inbalance in my brain that causes me immense stress. Indeed, being traumatized can make you feel "dead".

But is making someone feel dead worse than offing someone? At least if you're mentally injured you have a chance to get better, and your brain isn't DEAD. Saying a sex crime is worse than killing a person is like saying chopping off someone's hand is worse than taking their head.

I do understand why people tend to see sexual crime as worse than violent crime - more people are victims of sexual crimes than murder, and our culture is soooo damn obsessed with sex. And people are generally horrified of crimes against children in general, and pedophilia is so common. I'd say punching a kid in the face is more "disgusting" than offing an adult to most people.

It could be because the person who survived has to relive those moments every day, and some people cannot heal from their trauma, at least with the people who are dead are in peace.

I think reliving a sex crime in your head, especially for a child, everyday for the rest of your life is probably the closes thing to torture there is! Look at what these crimes do to so many people! Not all, but many people become truly screwed up for the rest of their lives! Statistically, sex offenders have usually had a sex crime committed against them as a child, and the same goes for serial killers. I'm not saying that if someone is sexually abused that they'll grow up to be a killer or sex abuser, but they have a better chance. Sex crimes really mess with people, especially when those people are children who have been violated by a stranger, or worse, an adult that they trust.

Well, I think it depends on the circumstances of the killing. Part of the reason people may think the sex crimes are worse, is because that is sheer torture to the victim, while murder is also, but some murder is done in self defense. So, I guess if you are talking about murder that was committed in cold blood and a sex crime they are both horrible and vicious!! Another rwason, they may feel sex crime is worse, is because the person has to live with that torture the rest of their life, while the murdered victim is unfortuneately dead, they don't have to suffer with the memory of their crime, although their loved ones do. So, I would say, depending on the circumstances, they are both terrible, disgusting crimes! Hope I am being clear in my response!

They are both horrible acts, and are both equally bad in there own way. Personally, I think sexual crimes are just as bad as a murder. Yes the person has a chance to overcome what has happened to them after a sexual assault, and they can live again. But a part of them will NEVER be the same. And people that are killed is just as sad. And it is sick for some one to murder a person. I dont think that one is worse then the other though. But I understand why you would post this because a lot of people do think that way.

Hi - Not sure where you live, but here in CA the penalty for murder is almost invariably worse than for sex crimes involving adults.

Sex crimes against children are another issue of course.

In CA there is murder with special circumstances (sex crimes, various types of intent prior to the crime, circumstances during the crime...) then murder in various degrees, then a variety of other crimes including sex crimes that can earn as little as probation as punishment.

Would be interested in reviewing a chat room on this if you know one...

Some sex crimes are so bad that you would rather be dead. If it is a sex crime to a child it should be automatic death penalty. Rape should be the same on most cases. Sometimes murders can be by accident some by insanity others by going crazy. Either way punishment should be death castration or something horrifying like that.

Sex crimes stay with the victim and can even lead to them killing themselves without getting help. Sex crimes should be punished the same as murder.

Crime is crime. A sex crime as far as I am concerned is no less horrible than Murder. You rape a woman, and you are committing a horrid crime against the rest of society. Disrespect, and invasion of all of us. You rape or commit a sex crime against a child you are attacking the future of the human race. those children become a blight upon society, even though they are the victims. some even become perpetrators themselves. A hole, or pit should open in the earth, and swallow all of the murderers, the people who commit genocide, and the sex criminals, along with the leader of them all, namely Satan. Coming soon to a world near you, look for it.

I am sorry to disagree. I think sex crimes are indeed worse than death because it's slow torment for a person. If you die you die, and life goes on. But if you experience a sex crime, you remain alive with so many complexes and a restless mind; so afraid of everything and everyone. You lose self confidence, trust, self esteem and so many more values needed for life to go on. and you wish you had died every single day you live. It's the worse thing that can happen to a person in fact...really worse than dying.

I'd assume that one reason would be that the crime doesn't end with the sexual act in the majority of cases.A large amount of victims unfortunately go on to become some sort of abusers themselves.
