do you think it's just fair that the NBA required players to attend college first before going into the Draft?

and dyou think LeBron James has an influence on high school players cuz they think LBJ went to NBA straight from HS so they want to do it too, believing they can also be successful like him..?

and in your own opinion, is going to college impt to you..?

thanks..just asking..=)

Their league, their rules, and they're not the only league with an age limit. The NFL prevents players less than 3 years removed from high school from entering the draft.

For every Lebron James, Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant, there's countless number of Korleone Young's, Ellis Richardson's and Taj McDavid's who either very quickly didn't succeed in the NBA because of their lack of ability, or they weren't drafted at all and lose their chance to play pro ball or get a free college education on an athletic scholarship.

Also, a player isn't required to attend college, but must be 1 year romoved from high school before entering the draft. They can go to college, play in the development league, attend a year at a prep school, or play overseas.

I think playing even one year at a higher level will improve the quality of players entering the draft. Too many players have entered the draft out of high school who weren't ready and didn't make it. A player who may look good coming out of high school could prove to not have the potential scouts thought he had after he plays a year at the college level.

An age limit will only help make the game better by raising the quality of players that enter the league, it will definately improve the level of play in college hoops. It will help weed out players who don't have what it takes to succeed in the pros, and allow the one who may have it to improve their skills and give them a better chance at succeeding. I don't have any problem with the age limit.

It's not fair, people who are over 18 are old enough to decide for themselves whether to pursue college or ask to enter the draft. It is not for the NBA to ask players to get an education, though these players' coaches in high school should certainly promote going to college. And to answer your last question, yes a college education is important to me.

And yes, I'm positive Lebron James' success will make a lot of current students wish they could go straight to the NBA to try to get instant rewards even though 99% of them would need time in college to fully develop.

one the one hand i can understand why the nba is doing this they want players to be able to make a quicker adjustment to the nba game and have some level of maturity as well because some players are immature and can't adjust to the nba game as well as some college students i mean let's face it a 17 or 18 year old with alot of money and bling can easily be influenced to believe that they can do no wrong by just hanging out in a club or whatnot but on the other hand i feel the nba is pretty much generalizing when it comes to age because some 17 or 18 year olds have more talent then certain 20 year olds and are pretty mature for their age and can adapt to the nba game pretty easily but it is what it is and david stern can do what he wants with his league

I think it's important to go to college but there shouldn't be a rule requiring it. If some guys want to skip college and go straight to the pros then they should be allowed to. Personally I would go to college first.
