This happened to me twice. Just go into the nearest clothing store to you, explain to them what happened, and they will remove it, it only takes a second. Nearly all decent clothing stores have security tag machines. Show them the receipt too if you want. You wont have to go all the way back.

Call the store and ask them what to do. When this happens in my store and the customer is too far away to come back I have them mail the garment to me and then I remove it and ship it back. I even send back their postage. Its just a mistake and the store should want to make it right. You may even find another store in your area that can remove it. Be warned though, just because it failed to sound the alarm at the store where you bought it doesn't mean it won't make one go off as you enter so bring your receipt and keep the tags on it or at least with it when you try to find a place to remove it.
Just be nice when you call the store, I am sure they will take care of it for you.

ok, well, this is how the machine removed them at the store i worked. you put the pin upwards, so the circle with the dot points up. then two knobs would come up and push the upper portion and the bottom portion up, bending the device so the pin was in the middle of the "u" then the pin would come out, so if you can get a vice or such to bend it (cuz them buggers are hard to bend without the machine) then ur good to go. oh, and those devices are not ink, so don't worry about ink!

I don't think that there is a way to get those off without destroying the garmet. That is the whole point of them. It would just be better to take it back to the store with your receipt and have them take it off. Unless, of course, wearing your clothes with the security tags are the "new thing" where you live.

Different stores have different removal tools for different tags. If there is another store in your state they will do it. If not, I guess it would be worth a try to take it to a different store, and if not send it back to your MIL to have it removed, if it's worth all the trouble lolz.

There is no way to remove it without the special tool. So unless you know someone with a ink tag removal gun, you have to go back to the store. And take your reciept.

Sorry, but I think you WILL have to go back and don't forget to take your sales docket as proof of purchase or they're not going to believe you.

Try sending it back, or hammer it until it breaks. Whatever works!
