Good Luck @ hope you dont have to use it

shotguns take time to work and could lose u precious time...but i'm not sure what an AR15 is...handguns seem to provide the best protection...but i hope u don't actually include yourself in this race war. it's best to stay out of that mess--and u need to get a gun license if u plan on carrying it around with u...seriously though, u carrying a gun encourages the animosity....and what races are fighting in minnesota of all places?no offense, sounds like only white people live there

Personally, I'd go with a Thompson submachine gun. You can get reproduction Thompson's from the original manufacturer. They use a .45 cal slug, and will knock down an assailant better than an AR15, but with less mess than a shotgun. They also have less kick than a shotgun, and with the dual "gangster-style" grips are easier to bring to bear. I'm talking the Chicago or "gangster" style (model 1927 with the 100-round drum magazine), not the military style Thompson.
They are around $1100 from Auto-Ordinance Corp.

First off, guns are not bad or evil, they are inaminate objects, specialized tools for very specific tasks. As long as you exercise caution and common sense, you will hurt no one with a gun except whoever is trying to kill you. First off, in any type of riotous urban setting, a gun is generally not the first thing you want to think of. Proper barricades, an escape route, first aid, water, etc. These are the truly important things. If you have parents or children, I highly advise you get them away from any hot zone you may be near. As for personal protection in close quarters, a handgun of formidable caliber is most likely your best bet, as it is easier to carry and quick to reload. A rifle is generally unnecessary in most cases where you're not looking for action. Of course, when it is necessary to have firepower, it's really REALLY necessary, so preparedness is a good thing.
I just can't believe how many people out there think law abiding gun owners are bad people. It's sad to think of that kind of ignorance. Most riots or block wars don't even involve handguns, just a bunch of stupid people getting violent. I wouldn't want anyone, even a gun-hater, to have to go up against a group of violent looters with only a baseball bat, but maybe it would make a point about the reality of self-defense.

You're more likely to be shot by your OWN gun than someone else's. So a gun isn't the answer here.
Consider setting some traps & deadfalls around the perimeter of your property, carry pepper spray, and sleep with a baseball bat.

I'd go with what Zeebya said.
That seems pretty scary, I would start putting some stuff over my windows, too. Hide your valuables. Send your kids to a safe place. Guess we'll see it in the news.

Well...so much for peace and quiet.
Aren't there any cops there or the National Guard?
Ok. Self-Defense Weapons...
One AR-15 and one side-arm (Glock 40).
Only use a weapon as a last option.
Peace.

ar 15 is better cause if you have extra clips ready your reload time is fast although your aim does not have to be good with the shotgun
