I have decorated my entire home (when I had one!) with garage sale stuff.
Three of the coolest things I ever found were:
1. an old-fashioned seltzer bottle made by the Sparkletts company in the '30's.
2. A very nice mini-grandfather clock about 30-50 years old.
3. A fully functional, Western Electric 555 PBX switchboard, the exact same model that Lily Tomlin used to use when playing Ernestine (one ringy-dingy!)
I like to joke that a lot of guys think they're all cool and bitchen just because they have a pinball machine in their den. I have an actual working switchboard, and the antique phones that go with it! Top that!
I have used these items as props in a film I'm producing about the life and work of William Mulholland.

Love it! Found an old jade mini vase that said Jeresulem on it . it looked kind of like an incense burner. Also has a womans very vague face on it. ??? Need to take to Catholic Church to inspect it. Can';t find anywhere in books or on the net. Son and I are always looking for brass and silver items from other countries and dates and old closed company names, Need antique roadway to come to town. Might need to be in a museum.??

Love em!
Bought a valve spring compresser for a flat head engine (At the time, I had a 1935 80 c.i. Harley flathead).
Didn't buy it, but found a U.S. Calvary CAMEL saddle (in the late 1800's, the army used camels in the Arizona/New Mexico area.)

These places are the best places to shop as far as I am concerned. I have found many of things that i currently use, from all of these places. Not just clothing. I have also found many slightly used and some new items at these places.

Being a Mom finding Barney tapes was my greatest find. Especially when they were only 50 cents each.
