when you consider the facts:

PS3 has full HD support. neither the Wii or the 360 have anything close to that.

you can play PS3 online for free, microsoft charges $70 for a year. PS3 has blu-ray compatibility. The Wii has nothing of the sort. and the 360 requires you spend $200 to play HD DVDs which only plays movies and arent even as good as blu-ray discs.

Ps3 can store up to 60GB of music movies and games. 360 can store 20GB and Wii can store jack ****.

Ps3 has games like resistance, Lair, Full auto 2, Motorstorm. the only good game of the 360 is halo 3, which wont be here until next november.

PS3 has the option of HDMI, AV, Coaxial, or component output, the 360 gives you one cable that will use either A/V or Component, and they have the nerve to call the component output HD. wii makes you use AV.

The Blu-ray discs used for PS3 games make the games huge. i beat gears of war on the 360 in 9 hours after 12 hours i am about 1/4 through resistance.
SO Why hate PS3

From what I can tell, it seems that there are four reasons that people diss the Playstation 3.

Firstly, and obviously, the price. Yes, even before we even had a chance to play the PS3 (sure, a few probably had a chance at E3, but I highly doubt that EVERYONE there hated it) people have been hating on the PS3. Do they offer excuses with reasonable cause? Rarely. Its mostly a dispute over price, and price alone. Since the console is more heavy of a price, it immediately become 'stupid gay' in the eyes of those who cant afford it. Yes, its true, it is pricey. But considering that Sony has to pay up to 300+ more than the actually release price just to manufacture the console…. 600 is a pretty good price to pay. Don’t forget that this isn’t just a console for gaming, it could very well replace your entire entertainment setup. Xbox 360 also got a lot of heat for there price tag when it first came out. But it didn’t last long. Same is likely to happen with PS3. Once more game releases are put out and the PS3s capabilities farther explored, the more of a deal t he price will seem.

Second would have to be the controller. Who doesn’t mourn for the lost of the beloved DualShock Vibration? In replace with this, of course, is the SIXAXIS. Which may appear as a rip off from the Wii controller. But Sony has been working on motion sensors-in game play for a long time now; remember the EyeToy? So its not fair to simply assume or accuse them of receiving the concept from Nintendo. Funny though, WiiMote apparently supports vibration features. Though I would never feel comfortable playing any Wii game at night… I mean, really, light are dim, you see someone whacking them hands around like crazy, a long stiff vibrating… object in their hand. What would a misguided on-looker assume?

Third reason people are likely to hate on the PS3 is because they’re simply uneducated as of yet to the situation and possibilities of the PS3. Especially when compared to the Xbox 360. Yes, the 360’s graphics are getting better, rivaling that of some of the launch date games for PS3. But remember, Xbox 360 has been out for a year now. Developers have gotten used to the console. PS3 hardware is still pretty alien to game developers. While Xbox 360 games will probably never get much more graphically advanced as they are now, the PS3 is still being learnt by the game developers. First try around and the games already blow out everything expected on the Xbox360, so imagine what the games for PS3 will look like in a year or two when the developers learn to grasp and fully use the system to its full capacity and near limitless features. Given that you have a television set that can fully justify the HD limits of the console, you might very well be seeing graphics in the future that, in comparison, make Xbox 360 games look like an old Dreamcast.

The fourth reason, and probably the main reason of all this is quite simple: fan boys. Yes, loyal fan boys of the Nintendo (never expected them to have fan boys, honestly) and the Xbox. Did it mater even a year ago when the ps3 hadn’t even been released yet? No, it didn’t, the fan boys would still have claimed the console gay and stupid. Kinda of an oxymoron on the fan boys half, I’d say. It didn’t matter, and it still doesn’t for many, if they cant find any actually cause for hating the machine, other than the fact the name is different from their fan-loved console and is made by a different company. Once in a rare while, though, you might find someone who can actually give you specs, reasoning, and even evidence to back up their claim.

Oh, and one more thing I almost forgot to include…The ps3 will require you to download a update when you first get the console. Hm. Now I can see why this is a problem for some people. Having to hassle and w ait five-to-ten minutes download a single file that overall increases, and highly benefits your machine. Its just not worth it, my time, along with their time, is FAR too valuable to spend a RIDICULOUS ten minutes to download an update on day one. So what it helps the system, and so what that Im likely to only need to do this once every few months. 10 minutes a month can equal into 20 minutes, to 30, to even forty! Dear god, the insanity!
If you couldn’t tell, I was being sarcastic on that last remark. Am I a fan boy? No. I prefer to try the consoles before bitching about them. But I can tell you this, I will be getting a PS3, and eventually a Wii. Xbox, however, lost my business a long time ago when ever console I bought from them got problems on day one.

So, why do people hate PS3?

Price (get a job)
Vibration (or the lack thereof)
Temporary Ignorance (Future games will solve this)
Fan-dom (its never going to end till the fat lady sings, croaks, and has a triple bypass heart surgery)

PS: devs Advoc8 is right, but keep in mind that, according to Sony, in the near future patches will be released to allow PS2/PS1 games to be fully backward compatible with PS3, though I doubt there are many that arent already.

And neek, can you really consider Xbox360 to be 'next-gen'? I mean, it is, after all, a year old by now... Would next-gen not be the newest consoles realesed, the freshly made ones, not the ones that have already been on the market for a considerable amount of time? True, if not for the PS3 and Wii* the 360 would still be Next-Gen, as it would be the only gaming console, and still newest, of its kind.

*Wii, graphically and technology-wise isnt quite what I would call 'Next-gen' either. Its the the way you interact with the game that makes it so unique, fresh, and new. A success? Possible? A failure? Also possible. But it is way to earily to go into judgement about that. We can only hope that it turns out better than GameCube. And sorry for going into Nintindo talk inside of a PS3 related question. Thats all for me.

I don't hate the ps3. It's abit expensive though. I guess all the hating is because most uninformed people just don't realize that it's actually a steal to get a ps3 set for $600++. The hardware alone cost $1000++ easy. Cutting edge, high-end stuff cost a premium. I'll probably get mine around April next year :) After I play the **** out of my Wii and X360.

Everyone has a right to their opinions.

A couple of reasons that may have caused backlash against the PS3 is the lack of units available worldwide. People having to queue up for days, and still leaving empty-handed. Even people with pre-orders were unable to get their units on release day.

This in turn has caused a huge blackmarket for many of the lucky ones, who have started selling their PS3s at 4 to 6 times the official price.

Although, you are absolutely right about all the features that PS3 comes with, it is not completely backwards compatible as previously thought. Many old games will not work, and there are not that many quality games out yet. Developers will take some time to understand the depth of the machine and its power, before launching games that can show the true dimensions of the Sony beast.

Let people have their opinions, and you keep enjoying your treasure.

The Blue Ray Disc space is unessasary and useless Oblivion uses less than half of the 360 disc space. Just a way to jack up prices with impressive figures. NO GAME COULD FILL UP A 360 DISC. so y have Blue Ray. THE GAMES SUCK FOR PS3 GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD. The only good thing about it is I bidding mine right now and its up over 1 grand

It sucks because everyone is paying 2 to 5 times the retail price for a NEW technological release that more than likely has problems. All this for bragging rights!

You answered your own question, PS 3 is better on many technical levels, but it comes down to personal preference about which one is better. People who say it SUCKS however are just haters. I am sure any true gamer could enjoy all three "next -gen" consoles. It may be expensive, too technical or complicated, or over-hyped, but none of those equal suck.

well one of my friends told me that blu-ray discs can be a major problem. they`re a lot more sensitive to scratches so they can get messed up pretty easily.

and for your comparisons.

wii: family-based. fun games for any age.
ps3: hard-core gamers. lots of rpgs, war games, etc.
and ii really don`t know about the xbox360.

Why do you keep posting the same question? Every instance I see it makes me hate the PS3 more.
