My family has always had the same tradition for christmas, driving around on christmas eve and going light looking. I live in whittier CA, near la...and i've been to altadena ranch and the bailan house but does anybody know where there are some great places to check out near me?

I don't know about Whittier, but there are some great displays in the hills above Burbank. There is one area called Starlight Hill (unofficially) because all of the homes in this group of blocks have big, lit-up stars on the house or lawn. Many of the studio people live up in the hills there, and as a result there are some very creative displays. You can get there by taking the I-5 and getting off at Western Ave or Alameda Ave in Burbank, and heading east toward the Verdugo Hills until you get to Scott Road or Mountain Street. Just cruise along the hills from Glendale north to Burbank, and you'll see some nice displays.

I live in Fullerton, CA and there are a couple of great places by me. Just north of the intersection of Brookhurst and Orangethorpe is a great place! The guy works in the movie industry and his place is one that thousands come to see. You have to get out of the car to see it all. It's really worth the drive.
The other place is about a half mile from there. It's the Rancho Fullerton Mobile Home Estates. 1201 Valencia DR. in Fullerton. Directions from the first site I mentioned are: Keep going North on Brookhurst until you come to Valencia Dr. Turn right! Go about 1/2 mile and you will see the mobile home park on the left hand side of the road. It's worth the trip too!
