I know its incredibly hard, but I try real hard. Im in college now and Im doing pretty well but theres always that one class that seems to be holding me back. Im terrified because if I dont succed then I dont know where else to go with my degree. I do well but I always look around in my class and see other people we do better and I always think "If im the vet student then why arent I the one with the best grades, why are the people who arent trying to be vets doing better then me, and If I cant be the best then maybe im not cut out to be a vet." I guess im looking for peoples opinion, is it worth staying in my major and pushing through, I love animals and my dream job is to be a vet but I dont want to fail and end up a farmer, which is pretty much the alternative in my major. Do I stay with it, or do I get out while I still can?

Hi there...some of the most successful people have found failure and fear of failure is what gives them the drive to succeed. Therefore, please don't let your fears doubt your desire to reach your dreams and goals. You have to believe in yourself regardless of what anyone else is doing. Everyone achieves success by different personal standards. Competition is healthy but when it comes to comparing yourself with others this is where you must believe you are #1! with your own goals--not by someone elses.
Positive attitude is key to survive and succeed any obstacles. Always look at those as opportunities rather than problems. When you take this position you will realize there are multiple ways to find a solution to succeed.
I hope someday you will remember this when you graduate from Veterinary Medical school.

PUSH ON!!!! Its not about the grades, so what if you make a C instead of an A. As long as you pass who cares? I'm in college and getting my Animal Science Degree. Classes are hard and the stuff is hard to learn. But dont let anyone stop you!!! Keep it up!! If you need support email me or something. Never give up your dream! And if you love animals as much as you say you do then forget those other students that do better and have an easier time. And do it for you and the Animals lives you will save. It just meens you have to work harder for your goal, that DOSE NOT meen you should give up! And maybe those other studens are doing bad in another class eh? We really never know do we? Dont give up, if this is what you want then go for it.

I know how you feel. Remember, there are a million careers you can have with animals besides a veterinarian. You could go into animal welfare, animal rescue, animal legislation, animal training/behaviorism (these people make a lot of money too $150-200 an hour), humane education, or a million other things. It doesn't matter much what your undergrad degree is.
The Humane Society of the US has some info on these careers. www.hsus.org, specifically: http://www.hsus.org/about_us/humane_society_university/
Good luck on pursuing a career with animals. Just remember, being a vet isn't the only thing, and you could make a larger impact in a different area of animal welfare anyways.

If being a vet is your dream job then persevere. Lord knows the animals you help will appreciate the fact that you did.
As for other people, we all learn and retain information in different ways so don't be so hard on yourself. You said you are doing pretty well and that's OK. Of course you don't want to fail. Don't let your own fears get in your way.
