With freedom(s) comes responsibility

Speech is censored every day on T.V and in most radio formats.
What is so different with the recorded message?

A good example would be "cop-killer" rap.
or any other form that highlights violence. The main reason that music should be censored is that kids listen to it and become influenced by it, mainly due to the fact that they are young and impressionable.

Tricky question and lets leave the constitution out of this. As far as freedom of speech goes, the 1st amendment is a joke that they toss aside whenever they feel like it. If you don't believe that, go stand in front of the Whitehouse screaming "I want to kill the president!" and see how long you get away with it. Anyway, the media outlet has the right to make any requests they want. They're the ones selling the product. Just like if you wanted to sell a line of clothes through a certain retailer, they have the right to request that it not have pictures of naked women engaging in sexual activity...(But what a shirt huh? :D ) It sucks, yes, but basically what it means is that you just need to find an outlet that doesn't limit their selection to radio-edit CD's and censored garbage.

People aren't always ready to hear everything. They get offended easily. Censorship saves us from arguments, which may or may not be a good thing. In an ideal world music wouldn't need to be censored because people would be able to understand that they don't have to agree with what's being said in a song.

Music is censored to prevent young kids from learning bad(worse) words, since some words are allowed. This won't stop them from learning the words, but it'll prolong the time of when they will learn them. Also, if uncensored music is played normally, then kids will use them all the time/regularly.

there are no reasons.....music should not be censored because it is an expression of the soul and you should be able to use any of the words that you need to express yourself

Never, no reason. If we start censoring we might as well end it all.

It shouldn't, period. If you can't handle the way the music was written, listen to something else.

I think rap music should be banned. Most of it is just profanity. And it is not that hard to ryhme words together and wear a hat crooked on your head and oversized clothes.
