I'm homeless, and I'll probably be doing that. But, on the whole, it could be worse: I could be in the hospital (I have AIDS). If I can get a little cash together, I'll go out for a nice Holiday dinner. And I do have my dog and 2 cats, and they give me lots of love.

lol, who rated down the homeless guy..
I mean it was an honest and candid answer, wth was wrong with it that someone felt the need to give him the thumbs down? Jesus.

Holidays can be another job. I ENJOY holidays, but damn, if it isn't annoyingly social sometimes. Leave me the hell alone, I'm supposed to be on vacation. If you have nobody, it's depressing because the whole city shuts down. The only place to go is the movie theatre. Then you feel better because at least you aren't working on a holiday. That's the epitome of low.

Yes I do. I wonder where those people came from, what happened to their families, and more importantly what happened to them. What tragedy in their lives brought them to the point of having no family, no friends and no place to go for the holidays? Then I feel sick to my stomach and ashamed that I am so blessed in my life, yet I have never opened my home to those in need. Giving to charities and volunteering for food drives is one thing, but it's all so impersonal. I should also share my home and offer hospitality to someone who has nowhere to go for the holidays. Maybe someday I'll do that. Thanks for the reminder.

Spendin the holidays alone can be of two reasons:
one can be that the person is a solitary reaper n he/she doesnt want to be among people....due to frustration...
sencond can be due to extreme happiness n the one which cannot be shared with anyone.....may be the other extreme....
so everyoone,i think, will need some point of a holiday in their lifetime to be spent alone......

I know a lot of people in nursing homes do. I was a nurse in them for many years, and their families totally forget about them around holiday time,if not all year. It's especially sad.

too many by no choice of their own. Families gone, no one to love and be loved by in return.
We must all fight every day with all our strength and power to make sure we are caring and compassionate. We can only be loved if we offer love in return. We can only be cared about if we decide to not sit on our duffs and reach out to someone. And the only way to have a smile is to smile at someone who needs it most. I know that sounds so surupy and sugary, but the truth is, we have to be human to be treated like humans in return.

Even being with family things can be difficult when loved ones have died.

lots of people do...It sucks to be alone anytime...........Homeless people and aids patients are lonely...Also the elderly in nursing homes..It sucks ....every one needs family and companionship....
Remember all of these people and all of the soldiers in the middle east too.
we are not meant to be alone and the holidays really remind us of that.....
