what if spiderman shot webs from the same location that normal spiders do (the abdomen)?

Actually, you erred a bit on the question, in favor of politeness. :)

The spinneret organs of most spiders are located in the same part of their abdomens as their excretory spiracles are. Meaning, in plain english, an anatomically correct Spider-Man would be shooting webbing, well, from his *sphincter*. Between the buttcheeks. Out of the hip pocket.

He'd be pulling it out of his ***** in other words. *rofl* =)) Which would make it *harder* for him to be a hero, but has *immense* prank potential if you ask me (not that anyone does, of course).

Not that Peter Parker did pranks quite like that. Now if this were *Adam Sandler's Spider-Man* I could see it.

Which is the kicker....we can talk all night about anatomy and how webbing should come out of his navel or his groin or his rear end....but in the end, thing is, whether Parker has the mechanical web-shooters or not, the truth is that the *guy* would *not* have had the nerve to *swing around* by his crotch or his tush, it would have ruined the character.....

So yeah, sometimes you have to sacrifice accuracy for storytelling...what else is new? ;) It happens all the time in comics, so why should movies be so different?

Things would not have changed that much. Steve Ditko, who originally drew Spider Man, had a tendency to draw him in... shall we say, unusual poses... like hanging upside down with his knees drawn up and his legs wide apart.

Although recently some have claimed that this was an attempt to make the character attractive to gays or to suggest that Spider Man (with his proverbial poor luck when it came to dating, when he was first introduced) was supposed to be gay himself.

However this ignores what you yourself have just pointed out: that actual spiders' spinnerets are located on the abodomen, and if there had been a drive to make Peter Parker more like an actual spider, they could have moved his web spinners to his abdominal area.

Marvel experimented with new concepts for Spider Man, such as further mutating him so that he had eight limbs (six arms and two legs-- this was long ago) or killing him and allowing him to recover by splitting his skin and shedding it (this was fairly recent.)

But they always seem to bring hm back to the same old 'standard', basically human model, with some spider traits grafted on

The movies woul dbe more scientifically accurate then. But better..? I don't know. That's kind of a subjective value.

Sorry, this made me actually LOL. Thinking of Spiderman swinging around like that from his butt would be quite amusing. And if that was the case, I'm pretty sure he'd lose a lot of sex appeal. No kidding, hands with webs, it seems, is so much more appealing than a butt full of web!

Well, I would think it would be rather cool to have him shoot it through his lower abs. He could pelvice thrust at the right time and time his shots. Would be uber cool.

btw the movies have it wrong. in the comics the webs don't naturally shoot out from him, they com from pair of mechanical shootering devices he wears under his gloves.
