Seriously, why do we care about celebrities and who they marry, etc? This whole Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes thingy seems soooooo ridiculous to me...all of the coverage and such...who cares?! There are so many important issues we need to address...and we spend our time hovering over a couple who is really no different from any of us except they get paid a sinful amount of money and waste a crapload of it on a wedding. Seriously, celebrity is so unimportant and wasteful, and we should not devote our attention to such trite crap...we should be focusing on issues that actually matter. Anyone agree?

I know, it's a bad habit that I need to break, but can't. As much as I don't want to admit it, I do keep up with all of the celebrity gossip. At the same time, I agree with what you're saying. There are much more important issues at hand than what celebrities do. However, just as I said, it's like a bad habit that you can't break...you just "have" to keep up with the celebrity gossip. It's like I need to go into rehab to stop. :-(

Because we live in a very trivial world. A lot of people care more about some smarmy actor than they do their own life. I completely agree with you why should anyone care what Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are doing at their wedding? Theres far more important things in the world to care about

I care. I am the editor of a prestigious journal: The Journal of Celebrity Gossip. (Zeitschrift für den Berühmtheitsklatsch). This is an accredited academic journal of high regard. What we do is to take surplus funds from things like cancer research, arms budgets, and grants to 3rd world countries and spend this money on important celebrity research. We then catalog and bind the data in a Moroccan Leather, gilt edge edition. These are sent out monthly to the UN security council, prestigious universities, and the Library of Congress.

Because the media shoves them in your face or everyones faces. We go to see them at the movies or see their faces on magazines while standing in line at the check out line. I don't see them any differently than anyone else. They are NORMAL. They are not from a different planet, although they think they are the select few. They do normal things like everyone else does, people just want to obsess over them because they have nothing better to do.

Some people are bored or are unhappy with their own life. I could care less what any of them do. They are people just like us. I've never been fascinated with celebrities. I've seen and met a few and it was no big deal. I said 'hi' shook their hand and kept going. Everybody else was oohing and aawing.
