From what I see, gay people have stronger family values in some ways. About half of the middle aged gay men I know seem to be the primary caregivers for their elderly parents. Their heterosexual siblings can't be bothered for some reason.

I think it's more like each family has its own values. I don't think we're so different from straight families that we have a completely different set of values. I have read research that lesbian families tend to place higher value on appreciating differences in people (less racism/sexism/etc.). There's less research available regarding gay families, since their are fewer families to gather info from. But I would think that pattern also exists with gay families. Still, how much families value sports, IQ, academics, being social with other families, achievement, "family time"/bonding, etc.--I think that varies from family to family, across the board.

We have our own values, but they are not that different from people that are not gay. We all want to pay less in taxes and receive more benefits from the taxes that we pay. The only difference is that a gay couple wants to be treated the same as a straight couple under the tax codes of the law, and most laws tax gay people at a higher rate since they are not legally married. We all have our family and want the best for them, and in that aspect there is no difference between gay or straight family values.

I don't think that gay people have inherently different values than straight people...I think that there are good and bad in every category...I think, however, that maybe gay people tend to look after/out for each other a little more.

I think people in general have their own values ...some are discreet and some aren't ....if you are a gay family and you have values....then you could label it that!

Well, your missing the point of the phrase, "family values"...We, as gays, are trying to show the straght folks that family values are the same whether your straight or not. They are essentually the same...home, hearth, love...be kind to one another...etc...

Yes and No. I believe we probably teach our children to not hate anyone because they are different, more so than any so-called "christians."
They say they are "christian" but teach their children to hate, distrust, to be intolerant, and accepting of those whom are different, do not follow their ways or beliefs, whom they do not understand. They do not encourage true knowledge but insist upon systematic ignorance.
It's truly sad that it takes those whom they fear and hate to teach them how to be good "christians."
