Now, I am NOT saying that every encounter could be/has been bad...but please if you meet him, maybe take a friend or relative with you until you know you will feel comfortable and please go to a very public place..

Meet in a place where there are other people. Do not meet this man alone. You have been chatting with him, but you really do not know him, so be very cautious Tell someone where you are going and with whom and when you should be returning. If you are not going to return at that time, let your friend know you are okayl Better safe than sorry. Believe me,I think it is fine to find someone on the internet, but please be careful. My son met his wife on the internet and they have been married for nine years, but it could have turned out to be a bad situation. Good Luck and please be careful.

I have to ditto the other answers you have received. Always remember that anyone you meet on the Internet can pretend to be anything they choose to be, not necessarily who they are.
You choose the place and make it a public one and take a friend with you if that is possible.
Just use common sense.

Be very careful. Do it in a well public place like at the mall during lunch hour! And bring friends/family members with you for safty.

standard date stuff, but it's nicer cos you already opened communication lines. i assume you have both exchanged photos so seeing for the first time in real life wont be a shock.
if he is a kind man, let him suggest. if his suggestion is less than kind, revise your expectations.
