You need to be very careful. Any time anyone meets someone and they are not face to face, it could be dangerous. Make sure that were you meet is very public with lots of people. Also, you should take a friend with you. Never go anywhere alone with anyone you don't know that well. I wish you luck but also advise you take a weapon of some sort with you. Pepper spray, meet in a public place, don't go anywhere where there isn't people until you get to know him better. There are just too many crazy people out there to take any chances.
