The roots of hip hop music are in West African and African American music, as well as 1970s dance hall reggae. Discussion of the roots of hip hop (and rap) must mention the contributions of the griots of African Culture. As well as musicians such as; The Last Poets, Jalal Mansur Nuriddin, and Gil Scott-Heron, whose jazzy and poetic "spiels" commented on 1960s culture. There have also long been verbal traditions such as the dozens which have influenced the roots.

Rap music is just the next generation of black music that evolved from R&B music. From soul, blues and goshpel rhythms. In fact, rap is r&b with an excellerated lyric. More words that move faster throughout the song that's the only differents, yes it's black music! That's why still today 70% of all rap's music tracks are samples of old r&b songs. The very first official rap song I ever heard was ''Rappers Delight by the Sugar Hill Gang'' with a Chic sample of their r&b hit ''Goodtimes''. But their were artist that rapped before it was labeled rap music. Artist like James Brown, who did nothing but rap on most of his songs with an occasional scream. Gil Scott Hern had some very politcally correct raps about the stuggles of his people at that time.Even Maurice White of ''Earth Wind and Fire'' did a little rapping on one of their songs ''All About Love''. Johnnie''Guitar'' Watson, even some jazz artist could have been called early rappers, because of the way they rhymed in their songs. Most people will not agree with the fact that African people spread around the world are to be credited for most of the worlds greatest music. If you do your research you will find that most of the successful white acts years ago and today got rich by singing black music. And most were labeled as Blue Eyed Soul. Even Emenim said that he wasn't the first white person to get rich doing black music, he just had the balls to admit it. But true music lover and true historians will! Scientist say all human life originated in Africa, and the drum, flute, and many of your string instruments were created there! So we have to give credit, where credit it's due!!

Without question. Rap/Hip-Hop was created in the South Bronx. It was originally both an expression of individuality as well as a creative outlet for sharing problems and life in the New York City projects and lower income neighborhoods. It quickly became a competition between MCs that led to continuous improvement by osmosis.

Black metallic takes a million cases extra skills than rap. Rap is a few guy smtalking right into a microphone utilizing dumb slang. Black metallic is many times one human being who can play 4 instruments nicely writing impressive, deep, and darkish lyrics and singing them in a raw kind that delivers to the great ecosystem of black metallic. i do not realize the attraction in genres which incorporates rap. Rappers are in a good number of cases purely in it for the money, the position as black metallic musicians honestly play for his or her love of song, it really is how song is meant to be.

Actually it was once thought that Deborah Harry (Blondie) had the first rap song. But she later admitted to getting it from hanging around the NY Underground.
If you listen to some of the more obscure funk that came out of Chicago in the 60's and 70's you'll actually here where some of the early rappers got their influence from.
Don't forget to check out the movie Dolemite. He'd recite these weird rhymes while doing kung fu.

Yes, but oddly...one of the ground breaking producers in rap was a white man named Rick Ruben. He and Russell Simmons founded Def Jam Records. He produced such acts as LL Cool J and Run DMC. He was also the last producer that Johnny Cash had. He might have been mixed up though. Johnny Cash was "The Man In Black"! hahahahahahahahahaha

Yes, I believe it was but I am not real sure. I have never seen it done by any other group of people except blacks and maybe by Puerto Ricans a time or two.

Some people think the original rappers were square dance callers back about 1850.

Actually, it's a Jewish invention, which was sold by an old junkman named Chaim, who lives on Maxwell Street in Chicago's South Side. My cousin Vinnie--who's in the mob, by the way-- flew with it to New York, and sold it to the boys at Cypress Hill.
