I think you're missing the point of art... which it that art doesn't have to have a point. You don't need to name every piece and what you create doesn't have to "make sense" to you or anyone else.

Creating a piece of art whether a simple doodle on the corner of your class notes, a massive painted wall mural, a play-doh figure, a bronze statue, humming a tune, or composing a symphony are all expressions of the person creating it. The things we create, whether it is a drawing, painting, sculpture, building, vehicle, or weapon are all the physical "real world" objects of the non-physical images in our minds. When you create something you are essentially saying "something like this is in my brain."

As an artist you should be painting what you feel and the imagery that comes into your mind as you work. Everything your create will solidify its own meaning to you from what you felt, what you were thinking, the people that were around you, and the world events at the time you were creating it. The personal meaning of your art will never match what it means to someone else.

You don't need to name your painting now, name it when you get famous and make it available for purchase at one of your gallery exhibitions, or just let who ever buys it give it a name. If you need to explain the peice to your teacher tell him the truth "I haven't given it a name. I don't know what it means, I just grabbed my brush and kept painting what popped into my head, and this is what came out."

Try to visualize a symbol for it..A peaceful descent or a peaceful ascent, Could it be a stairway to heaven? a path to success? or maybe its a stair that represents the climbing of people of the social community, the freedom to build a home in heaven perhaps? ...first tell why you made it, then describe what did you use to make it, tell what inspired you to do it or you just made it up. explain everything you felt while working with the picture. tell how it affects your life. I guarantee you that you will be amazed by your explanations if you do this.

Your mentor will be so proud of you unless he/she hates you...
