I like the travel websites (www.expedia.com www.travelocity.com www.orbitz.com etc...) but some good old-fashioned phone calls may work better. My father flies to Florida very regularly and manages to get great airfare by repeatedly calling up the airlines directly a few months in advance until he gets the fare he wants. It also helps if you live near or can get to a major airport with numerous flights to Florida.

Book in advance. Call the airlines or look on their website before you look at travelocity.com or orbitz.com. I've heard that departing from a major airport and arriving in a smaller airport helps you get cheaper tickets. Also, try to avoid late March and early April because this seems to be a very popular time for college students' spring break.

Try southwest.com, depending on what city you are flying from. They have reasonable priced flights-many are nonstop also.
