Because the strings are of different thickness, and also due to changing tension on the strings when playing the guitar, these are called chords When played correctly the chords become rifts ,when rifts are put together you have created music!
That is the best I can do without giving you a music lesson on how to play the guitar

Their mass and their tension is different. The lower strings are heavier (the lowest are wound with metal to add mass) and the higher strings are lighter and under more tension. The frequency of a vibrating string is given by
f = 1/(2*L) √[T/m]
L = length, T = tension, m = mass (per unit length)

Are you sure it's a guitar? lol, just joking. You need to put a reasonable amount of pressure (I put a lot because it works for me). Move your finger closer to the right fret-- it will help make the sound. Try it, make sure you're not touching any other strings if you're strumming the guitar.

by pressing your fingers down on each individual fret.
the strings starting from the thickest to the thinnist are E A D G B E
So starting with E open string. Press down the first fret and that is the note F. One more fret up is f# and so on.
