what happens to deleted computer files ... What form do they take?

Hmm, I would prolly say senseless data that clogs your hard drive, does that mean I'm a negative person...?

I don't know much about it except it has something to do with the changes in the surface of the drive. Files never completely go away. If they are deleted but haven't been written over yet, it is still possible to retrieve them. It's like a chalk board. Because chalk also scratches the surface, everything you've ever written will always be on the board, whether you can make sense of it or not. You could really only make sense of the most recent erasures. Deep down on the magnetic surface of your hard drive is every file that has ever been written there.

They take the form of a different pattern of "1's and 0's" when overwritten. Until then they remain unchanged, as only the file name and pointers are erased upon deletion.

I have no idea what you are talking about as science have never proved that. As for the deleted files. They are rewritten over on the hard drive as they are considered to be free space on the cpu

since all computer files are set with binary codes i guess that the deleted files are changed to 000000

I think you mean matter dosn't die. It just becomes something else.

Files stay on your hard drive but they stay there untill you reformat or write over them. Bits and pieces may still be left after you do both things. It's all 0's & 1's.

they are permanantly inscribed on the hard drive even after being sent to recycle bin its there you just don't see it
