we had an aloe plant growing up, and for insect bites, skin irritations, cuts or burns, including sunburns, we would just snap off a chunk of the spike and rub the goo inside directly on the area that needed relief. Just wash your hands thoroughly, especially if you are going to eat afterward, because the goo lingers on the skin and tastes pretty nasty (found that out with some fried chicken) You don't have to break off a huge piece either, usually even just an inch of plant is plenty.

what you can do is tear off one of the leaves. At the end of the leaf (not the pointy end) squeeze a little to excrete some of the juices and then rub that onto the affected area

YOU COULD BUY THE JUICE EXTRACTED FROM THE PLANT, AND IT IS VERY HEALTHY FOR YOU. IF YOU CAN;T AFFORD TO BUY THE ALOE VERA JUICE, YOU CAN APPLY IT DAILY, AFTER YOU TAKE A SHOWER, PUT IN ON ALL OVER YOUR BODY, AND FACE WHILE YOU ARE STILL WET. YOU SHOULD GO ON LINE AND LOOK UP ALOE VERA, AND IT WILL TELL YOU EVERYTHING, I THINK I'M GOING TO BUY THE ALOE VERA JUICE, THEY SELL IT AT MY PHARMACY, AND A LADY COMES IN ONCE A MONTH AND BUYS 3 JUGS OF IT, AND SWEARS IT MAKES HER FEEL SO GOOD, AND HER SKIN STAYS CLEAR.
