I have a simple mid-length black dress for a corporate holiday party. Similar to this one:
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=227319&CategoryID=20005&LinkType=EverGreen
Since the dress is kind of simple, I want to find nice shoes to go with it. I wanted some black shoes w/sparkles or something like that, but I went to a couple of department stores, nothing stood out. Should I go with plain black shoes or should I look for a different color and then accent that color with my jewelry?
I will be wearing stockings, so probably not the open toe/back shoes. Any suggestions on the shoes? Links are appreciated!

Well if it was me i would wear flats(the ballet-ish ones that are kinda popular now) or low heels.
(Black , maybe silver shoes, some sparkle if there are any)

Oh no please dont wear stockings with that dress!!! With a simple black dress like that any open toed heel should work in any color. Just make sure you purse matches the bag and it wont be a big deal. Black shoes will work too but in my opinion, you need a little color even if its just a silver or gold shoe. Maybe stay away from a white shoe, white shoes usually look a bit tacky.

Keep looking but stick with black. don't change like you mentioned up above to accessories the shoes then you have a nice black dress . black hose and your miss matching at the feet with some colour purse to match that. stay elgant black can be very sexy and tasteful. you can dress it up with rhinestones if you wish nice earring braclet a necklace you can have your hair sweeped up if you like or fallen down nicely around you.
but stick with the same theme your black dress is pretty it looks like it has a bit of a shine to it with winter coming you won't need an open toe as you said above no open toe you can find one with a nice heel. some have silver or gold look on the heal some carry rhinestones around the bottom of the heal not too much just enough to know its there.
Or stick with a nice high heel don't do a wedge for this kind of dress something with a nice heel on it and p;ointed toe would look pretty. you can go patten leather which has a bit of a shine to it or you can go solid black or swade to black.
Dont forget some nice jewelry to add nothing to bold or chunky keep it matching your outfit . dont' have anything to small either or it will be lost on your body you will know try on differnt types till you say wow uh huh thats it.

I think a nice metallic shoe- gold or silver, whichever looks better with your skin tone- would look awesome with that dress. And if you found a shoe that you liked with an open back with a strap, that would be fine with stockings. And you can always wear the shoes later with jeans and have a hot casual outfit :)

Do you have a price preference? Because I can spend hundreds on a pair shoes (my manolo purchase today). The dress is short and flippy so you might not want to wear flats. Flats makes you look stubby if the dress is shorter. I suggest heels as they would elongate your legs. You want to look good and knock their socks off.
You might want to try Charles David, Chinese Laundry. Or go to www.shoes.com or www.zappos.com. They have good deals a lot of the times.
I bought the shoes in the 2nd link today. LOVE THEM.

I'd get sharp toe, black, shiny shoes that have a subtle pattern. Since you don't want back/toes out, try at least to get a low cut top so they won't look to heavy.
I would offset the dress with fairly large rhinestone earrings and bracelet.

Try this place for pumps and stockings. They have traditional high heeled pumps and a huge selection of stockings all in many sizes. They also have ultra sheer stockings with a clear toe that allow you to wear them with open shoes if you prefer

Go with your jewelry colors. Like say your wearing a lot of emerald jewelery then go with a emerald shoe. Or since your dress is so simple but beautiful go with a sparkly heel to make it less plain.
