I am on the dance team right? and i have yet to be on the front row. I ahve been on this dance team since the year i was even allowed to try out. i've been on it for 4 years. Its always the same girls on the front all the time cuz the dance coach has her favorites. and i'm always in the back with all the girls that never know the dances. And i ALWAYS KNOW THEM! I practice like all the time. I sit in my splits every other night while i watch tv or read or do homework. I practice all the dances at home in my itty bitty mirror and you see where this is going. i work my B-U-T-T off! well what i have of a butt.

And I'm sick of it. I lvoe to dance. I always will. I will always give it my all no matter hwere i stand. But i want that front row! i want it very very bad. after 4 years.. i mean jeez

But heres the deal. I'm kinda quiet. Not really shy but quiet. And i don't dance like veryy good in hip hop and stuff like that.. cuz i'm too white.. so what can i do to stand out to my coach?

Maybe write your coach a note asking if you can move up to the front row for a dance in a style you are comfortable with. Maybe she/he doesn't realize you want to be in the spotlight for once if you have seemed content in the back row for 4 years. Also to show you are confident. Offer to try out new steps or help the girls in the back row who are lost to show her/him that you have the ability to lead the group. Good luck moving up!

I totally understand you. I'm in that situation too. I am on a team at my university and I tried out a few weeks ago to be on the touring team and didn't make it not because I'm not good but because I'm kind of quiet and I dance in the back. I love to dance too but I sometimes don't think that it's a good thing to be showing off.
Let me tell you this. You HAVE to show off! You have to talk to the teacher and to your other classmates a lot! You have to involve yourself in stuff pertaining to the team. Do stuff for the team and for the people on the team. Show that you care and that you love it. Show your teacher that you love to dance. Keep practicing so you'll be even better and your teacher will feel comfortable putting you in a front row. You also need to ask yourself about your height. How tall are you compared to the girls in the front? I've been always put in the front not necessarily because I'm the best on my team but because I'm shorter than other girls. So it could be that too...
Whatever it is you have to keep at dancing with even more energy and to show your teacher that you can do it and that you want to do it. If she asks who wants to try a certain new move or do something in a dance you be the one who offers to try. Even if you don't do that well or are not selected that would show your teacher that you love it and want to be in the center of attention. Talk to the teacher about anything. Ask her how she's doing. Be nice and smile. She will notice you more and will actually realize that you really want to be in the front. And one more piece of advise: be confident or at least show that you are even if you have no idea what you're doing! Smile big, look the teacher in the eye and dance with energy and passion. Show your love for dance in the way you dance. I know that it's not that easy but it's not impossible either. Good luck at dancing and keep smiling.

well i have the similar thing happen to me.except after 4 and a half year or 5 years i got to go to the front.

one thing u can do is tell the teacher if she can let you be in the front once and if she does and u do a good job she might let u be in the front for a long time.

or you can quit the team.

or you can try to do better than the girls in front.

im quiet too actually but my teachers let me go to the front.

it doesnt matter if you are in the front , if you are a good dancer everyone will notice you no matter where you are standing.

I suggest that if you are not too shy, you talk to your coach. Ask why you are never in the front. Remind him/her that you have been there 4 yrs and you think you deserve the front row once in a while. If it doesn't work, go to another dance team. Good Luck!
