WELL, THAT IS A DEEP SUBJECT,
I will just say the first things that comes to my mind,
LIFE, IS A GIFT, WHETHER YOU RECOGNIZE IT, BELIEVE THAT, OR WANT THAT, IT IS YOUR GIFT TO DO WITH AS YOU CHOOSE, I WOULD SAY THE PURPOSE IS FOR YOU TO RECOGNIZE WHAT YOU HAVE, AND IF YOU CANNOT DO THAT, THAN THINK OF THE ALTERNATIVE TO THE GIFT OF LIFE,,
WHAT NOTHING FROM NOTHING IS, =
THATS ALL,
PS. THE PURPOSE, IS TOO COMPLEX, SPECIAL AND MYSTERIOUS FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND, EVEN IF YOU LIVE A ZILLION MORE YEARS,,AND WATCH OUT FOR THOSE WHO WILL SAY: WHAT IS THE PURPOSE FOR SUCH A QUESTION THAT YOU JUST ASKED,

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

The purpose of any life is to produce more life. Figure it out. All instincts are set to make you want to climb on the heap to get the best mate (even if you do it as a group). You earn in order to support yourself and/or a family. The woman has the instinct to create a nest for the mate and for her children. After they are grown and leave the empty nest the instinct does not end and she still sweeps and grows flowers. You eat and try to keep your body healthy. Why? To procreate, just like the birds and bees.

'There are two things to aim in life, first, to get what you want, and after that, to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind achieve the second.'
Well, everybody's different, some wants to become a millionair, some want to be an actor, or model. But the purpose of my is to be happy, to have a nice family with a loving husband and two kids, a boy and a girl (ok, I'm still too young to talk about that, but oh well), and a dog, and a cat, want my parents to be happy and healthy, and have a nice stable job in the army, and live happily ever after!!!

haha, I like the answer about Yahoo! Answers lol. Seriously, though, the purpose of life depends on how we got here. If you believe we are here by blind chance then the burden of answering that question lies on your shoulders and the other six billion people on this planet all have their own purpose which they've decided on--chaos born of chaos. On the other hand, if you believe we were created, then our Creator made us with a purpose and we should seek out Him to find out that purpose.

To use our advanced intellect to find great ways to elevate the human condition and to preserve and be good stewards of God's gift of our beautiful planet and all the plants and animals thereon. I do not believe that plants and animals were put on this earth solely for human consumption, but we were meant to coexist peacefully with them and with each other. We haven't been doing a very good job of any of the above. I certainly don't believe we were meant to overpopulate and cause the extinction of many species due to over demand on resources.
