The couple was married and has always resided in California. The husband wants to go to China to divorce his wife. Is this legal in California? Can he do this?

No, if you were married in California, you will get your divorce in California. If you were married in China, that's another story but, you weren't.

If you're talking about Chinese citizens than it's for economic purposes. China is still a very poor country despite the leaps and bounds it has climbed within the past 30 years. When they come across a Western man it's because they think he has money. Most of the times, Westerns having money, is the exact opposite. I notice they tend to be quite poor on the social rank of the West. Well the ones who marry Chinese women at least. So in a since the Chinese woman were duped into believing he was a bank account. Most interracial marriages (in concern of Western men) though happen between Japanese, Korean, and other Asians. Look up the stats. Sincerely, My Observations

why would you want to go get divoreced in china?

If you got married in usa, and live in usa, why china?

does she have large amount of property or money in china you want part of or what?

I dont even think you could do that,

get divorced in a country that has no record of your marriage?

You may have to divorce in the state in which you currently reside.
