Living in a City can be fast paced, and sometimes inpersonal depending on your outlook and the relations you make, or not make. But it can be grand as well. There is alot to do and you can't beat the convenience of all shops, restaraunts, etc.
Living in a village you'll find some conveniences but on a whole, your selections will be limited. People tend to be interested in every tid bit of information they can pick up - gossip is a terrible problem. Also, you'll find that new comers tend to be treated as outsiders for quite some time.
All in all...take City living over the Village or if you want a taste of country life...go for the suburbs of a larger centre.

The city has size and wealth , which means a diverse set of opportunities. There is more there. The problem is there is so much and so many people it can become very lonely and impersonal. A village is smaller, and does not have the opportunities but has a sense of familiarity or kinship. Everyone knows each other. A village may not be as modern as a city.

In a city you are anonymous and so are most of the people you meet. In a small village everyone knows everyopne, and if they don't have anything bad to gossip about you, they'll invent something. On the other hand, people being nosy makes crime less likely to go unoticed in small towns where in the city people become blind to it. Pollution is less in small towns. Politics are just as crooked, the politicians just seem all related in small towns (usually there are at least two rival families for political power). But kids get bored in smalltowns with no theatre, no arcade or mall, no public place to "hang out", no public YMCA type of pool/gym other than what the school might have to offer. Really in many ways village life stinks except that people are generally all at least civil to one another and you know who/what you are dealing with. There is a certain percentage of pricks in any population so they are just fewer in number in small towns. But I don't like the city because I always get a feeling that there is fear, hostility and envy just under the surface where millionaires in limos roll past bums sleeping on sewer grates and women are afraid to look anyone they don't know in the eye. Villages tend to be cleaner, if some guy is working on a car in the front yard you'll here all the neighbors complaining about him "ruining the neighborhood" like he had 50 junk cars stacked five deep. Also I get to have a large garden and fruit trees in the backyard and we used to have a pony :) I look around teh horizon and I see trees, fields and forested hills, not grey skyscrapers that grow up like some giant fungus.
