I did this and it worked like a charm.
Listen to the whirr of an electric fan in your bedroom. That really helps alot. It's VERY soothing.
Also try this. I still do this some times and it works.
Go through a grocery store IN YOUR MIND. Start with the fresh produce section and recall all the fruits and vegetables that begin with the letter "A".
NEXT...recall as many as you can that start with the letter "B", then "C" and so forth through the alphabet.
You will probably fall asleep in the middle of naming fruits and veggies that begin with the letter "C".
There are SO MANY!
It is EXTREMELY relaxing because it prevents your brain from thinking about stressful subjects.
Sometimes I try to think of things you would find in TARGET super Center, using the alphabet.
Try it. I promise this works. I have suffered from insomnia all of my life until I discovered this mental excersize.
Good luck and sweet dreams!

I love this question! Benadryl is horrible. Especially if you take too much thinking it'll make you sleep better. Benadryl increased my heart rate after I took like 3 pills when I just wanted to sleep after a bad break up. Masturbation works for both sexes. Watch television with the lights out and in a sleeping position. The noise lulls you to sleep. That's why they say to leave a fan on, because your mind concentrates on the continuous humming noise and you go into a deeper sleep. My final answer is to try to get your hands on a particular non-addictive medication for itching. They give it to animals for allergies. It's called atarax or hydroxyzine, and it is awesome. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Here's some info on atarax:

Try bendryl knocks me out...for some reason nyquil tweaks me out instead of knocking me out.
I have had your problem since I can remember 15+ years. I find when I am regular with exercise and something like yoga (for the mediation and streching) I don't have as much trouble falling asleep.
If you can get Tynelol PM that works good too.

Take a hot shower before bed
then drink a glass of warm milk, it'll definitely make you tired and sleepy.
or if you're a guy, you can masturbate, it'll make you tired definitely.
sleep only comes if you're fully relaxed and your head is free of all extra stress and useless thoughts.
