This is more of a reason to go to a real playoff system rather than select two teams to play for a "national championship." Clearly there are many teams who would be great contenders to win it all.
1. Ohio State: No one can argue that this is not the dominant team in college football.
2. Michigan: Only loss is to Ohio State (and that was only by 3 points)
3. Florida: Could win the SEC
4. USC: biggest knock on them, they had one bad game against an unranked team
5. Notre Dame: Only loss is to Michigan
6. Arkansas: Has been a surprise team this year
A playoff system would allow all these teams to compete for a championship and would make college football's postseason much more entertaining.

With no other college being undefeated (exception Boise State) then Michigan has just as much of a chance as USC, Florida, or even Notre Dame.... It is sad that a team could lose early in the season and by a lot and everyone forgets that so a team that loses late always is penalized. Gee should UM-OSU play their game in the beginning of the season and play easy teams late so they "Have a right" to be thought of first before a team that loses at the end to a very good-large rival...
Give us a playoff system or go back to the days when many of the bowls meant something to many colleges......

Ohio State is #1 and Michigan is #2. The game on Saturday was a regular season game and not a championship game. It is only coincidental that #1 played #2 (these two teams always play eachother as the last regular season game and has nothing to do with championships).
In the world series in baseball you match up the two best, not #1 vs. #3 or #4. It would not be a rematch, it would be a championship game. 'kinda like a playoff' is not a playoff.
Ohio State vs. Michigan is the biggest rival game in sports, personally being from Ohio and being a huge Buckeye fan I would rather take on a #3 or #4 team, because Michigan scares me and the other teams would be an easier win for us, however, Michigan is #2 and deserves to be there, any regular season game is irrelevant to the post season, 'its that simple.'

I agree. Don't worry the chances of a rematch are slim to none. Michigan blew it, plain and simple. They were dominated and it wasn't as close as the score. They should have started the game the way they came out in the second half. Say there was a rematch, what if Michigan won that? Where would we be then? That would spark such a controversy and the NCAA will do anything it can to avoid another embarrassment.
If USC wins out, they are in the title game. If Florida wins out and USC loses, Florida is in. If ND wins, Florida loses to Ark, ND is in. Sorry Arkansas.

USC wins out and they're in the title game. People making the arguments about who lost to who are missing a key point - it's a 12-game season, not a 1-game season.

Michigan lost, and that's why they shouldn't be in the title game? USC LOST TO AN UNRANKED TEAM!!!!! Michigan lost to the NUMBER ONE TEAM by three points. based on that, mich is the top contender.
