An FM transmitter is a common way to hook up an mp3 player. You plug a small battery operate transmitter into your mp3's earphone output, or docking port if it's an iPod, and the transmitter converts music to a low power FM stereo signal your car radio can receive. You tune the transmitter to a frequency that is unused in your area and then tune your car's radio to that frequency.

An FM transmitter isn't always a perfect solution. In large urban areas, the FM spectrum may be full of stations. Some of the transmitters have a very limited set of frequencies they can transmit on, and depending on the antenna's location in your car, your reception may be unacceptable.

Another solution is to look around the internet and see if there is an adapter that fits on your car's radio to let you feed the output from your mp3 player directly into your radio. This is an ideal solution if your car's radio permits it. I drive a Toyota Camry, and there is a device that connects to the back of the radio (it really isn't difficult to install) that makes the radio think there is a CD changer attached to the radio. You select the fake CD changer as your sound source, and start playing your mp3 player. For my purposes, it the ideal answer. There's no interference, and the sound is very good.

Good luck.

there is a cable called a monster cablt it will plug into your mp3 player. it will plug into the cig. lighter in your car then it will tell you what station to set your radio to and the music will then play out of your speakers. check out bestbut.com there are about $70 dollars. or depending on what radio you have in your car they may be a connection in the back for a cable if it is mp3 ready!

if you have a CD player in your car, you probably have a AUX jack, it looks like a headphone jack and might say AUX above it. you can get a small black cable for about 3 bucks that will be male on both sides and will run from the headphone jack on your MP3 player to the AUX jack on your Car CD player
