Well i saw the original Colombian version of this called "Betty la Fea" a long time ago. It was the most succesful "novela." Ive watched Ugly Betty and its now one of my favorite shows! But im tired of people comparing it to the spanish version! Though many of the things are very similar obviously not everythings gonna be the same either. For instance in the spanish version Betty and her boss fall in love but i dont think this is the case for the new version. I mean a spanish soap only lasts about a year. But for an actual tv show in america it could last years so its basically impossble for them to fall in love now cuz it would kill the show. So what do u guys think?

I like Ugly Betty. I make sure I watch it every week. I've never seen the spanish version.
I do want to respond to Devey who doesn't like the fact that Betty is being seen as ugly. Well, maybe if we walked down the street and saw Betty we wouldn't think she was ugly, but on the show she works at a "fashion" magazine where looks are everything. In that world where she is not a size 2, wears horrible clothes, and has a mouth full of metal, she is considered ugly. It is a comedy. Remember that.

I've never seen the Spanish-language version of "Ugly Betty" ["Betty la fea"] so I wouldn't be able to compare it.
But, the funny thing is, the girl they cast in the lead part in the American version, America Ferrara, is actually very pretty - she's not ugly at all (she's not Hollywood thin, but she is very attractive)

I never watched Spanish version of Ugly Betty. I, however, like this English version.. and I was hoping Bett and her boss will fall in love, I guess it is not going to happen. Anyway, it is an interesting show, I especially like the papa.

I love ugly betty everybody in my house knows to leave me alone when this show comes on ,on thursday nights. I dont leave the tv for that entire hour . It also deals with things that are going on with people from other countries in this country so it is interesting to me as well. I dont think her and daniel will ever fall in love but i do think they will be like forever friends and I bet you daniel will give her the money that her sister lost to that shady lawyer. I hope they catch that shady lawyer girl and put her behind bars. good luck and god bless and happy thanksgiving.

you know i currently saw the "ugly Betty" lady,and really i personally feel like America has nothing better to do besides test the water of someones emotions.i mean really what about thee people that actually look like her (not that i do),but i feel that its pretty sad that the network could do nothing better than exploit another human being misfortune.Who is the voice of beauty anyway?maybe ugly Betty isn't really ugly to most people anyhow.the network sent her out to see how the world would treat her as an "ugly"person ,how did the network know what/who to dress he er as.I say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the network view was was very one dimensional to me ,besides he weight girl looked like a regular person to me,plus people conceive you by the way you conceive yourself so if the network tells you to go out in America and be ugly then you have that state of mind ,and if you do have that state of mind .people have he right to have that state of mind towards you .i just Feel like the network offend a lot of regular looking people,that looks like or is very close to looking like her.

I like it....the first episode wasn't as great as was anticipated, but giving it another shot, I became a fan....the only thing I don't care for is the fact that Salma Hayek cast herself in such a large part..even though she produces it, she should have just stayed behind the scenes....seems a bit "Oprah-ish" to me..

Its one family show that available with out a lot of curse words and sex scenes. I think it is not the most interesting show, however its holesome
