Facial expressions - These movements convey the emotional state of the individual to observers. Facial expressions are a form of nonverbal communication.
Humans can adopt a facial expression as a voluntary action. However, because expressions are closely tied to emotion, they are more often involuntary. It can be nearly impossible to avoid expressions for certain emotions, even when it would be strongly desirable to do so; a person who is trying to avoid insult to an individual he or she finds highly unattractive might nevertheless show a brief expression of disgust before being able to reassume a neutral expression. The close link between emotion and expression can also work in the other direction; it has been observed that voluntarily assuming an expression can actually cause the associated emotion.
Because faces have only a limited range of movement, expressions rely upon fairly miniscule differences in the proortion and relative position of facial features, and reading them requires considerable sensitivity to same. Some faces are often falsely read as expressing some emotion, even when they are neutral, because their proportions naturally resemble those another face would temporarily assume when emoting.

Dear Raja M, If you have just started thinking about this field, then you have to do a lot of study. After that you will 100% agree that it is possible. I can give you a lot of study material so that Law that works behind thist can be fixed in your mind.
For some people it is just child's play. I know One person who regularly sits with me and he knows how to do it.
If you are thinking that you will get this talent as a gift from some body then dear better stop thinking about it. It requires a lot of practice and don't think that you can't do it . You can do it.
I can give you a method.. It is here ... very simple it seems but I myself could never do it properly as mind plays a dirty game with me.
It is just a matter of rythem that has to be developed.. and that is the most difficult part.
If you need detail material contact me using my yahoo id
I will be happy to give as much as assitance as possible out of my love for the subject
Regards

People who are good observers and can gauge different type of psychology well often have the gift to understand what a person will think or how he/she will act in a particular situation. Though, body languages tells us much about the person there are many other clues right from the person's dress to his shoes to his hair, watch and hat. Think Sherlock Holmes. How he could tell so much about the other person because of his power of observation. On the paranormal level though, I have heard that telepathy can give us a power to transmit thoughts to other people's minds but it will not exactly be reading but 'listenting' to them through your mind. But you can look more into it by going through paranormal faculties.

Not yet, although sometime in the future it may be possible to electronically "read" a person's facial expressions, tone of voice, and other physical clues to what they are actually SAYING, but brain waves are very faint, so they don't transmit. You could get better at reading body language -there are lots of books on that.

There are non-verbal cues that give clues to such things, for example, as nervousness or sadness, etc. But there is no way to know what another person is thinking. In fact, there is no way to prove that anyone else even exists! The only way to know what someone is thinking is by what they tell you...and that might not even be the truth. :)

When you know a person well enough, you can sense what they are feeling at times, and because you know them so well, sometimes in given situations you can pretty well guess their reaction to something. That's what is called being in tune with one another. Take a lot of giving and taking and listening and talking to really achieve that.

I don't think anyone can know for certain exactly what another person is thinking.
However, you might try posting this question to the Games/Poker section instead of the Psychology section. They're the experts on this subject...
