if you want easy and light, i suggest a flute. there are a couple of notes to play, but its the easiest out of the bunch. the second easiest would be clarinet. the french horn and baritone requires too much air, too much blowing. i played the tenor sax and i loved it, but it was kind of hard and heavy.

Depends on what your chops are suited for. French Horn is a really beautiful instrument but challenging. Either flute or clarinet are good instruments to start off with.

She should try the bass guitar. Or does she want to play in like a marching band, then flute or clarinet. I play the drums but it would be hard for a 14 yr old just to start drums with all the rythmical habits they picked up through there life.

French horn is hardest (and heavy) then baritone then Clarinet and flute will be similar, but flute has fewer keys to worry about. Have you ever blown in a soda bottle? You can play the flute. (and you don't have to buy reeds)

Well, I play the cello (I'm 13), and I've played it for 5 years. It was my first instrument and I picked it up really fast... I totally LOVE to play it and it has such a beautiful sound. (It really isn't that heavy, either. Some people think it would be but I've never had any trouble with it.)

And remember, playing the cello makes you smarter...=)

Either the piano or the guitar. These are the most popular for young people. Personally, I would go with the piano.
