Ok the Boyfriend and I just bought our very first Gingerbread House since we first moved in...so When should we put it together, and display it in our living room, and how long can it keep for in this enviroment, and will it still be edible after a long period of time? THANKS!

I usually put together my gingerbread house at the beginning of December and on Christmas Day when all the nieces and nephews are over, they get to take it apart and eat it. As long as it is kept free from dust, dry and little critters aren't eating it, it can be up for some time.

Merry Christmas to all.

I will be making a ginger breadhouse with my son on December 15th and leaving it up till a day or two after Christmas.

I live in an area where the humidity is not high in the winter. So the gingerbread house and all the decorations stay very well. However I'm not sure how well or long it would stay in an area that has high humidity. Sugar and humidity do not mix.

I have seen my parents keep one for years, as long as it does not get wet or any thing starts eating it.

After about a month I would say that it is no longer good as food.
