to delete the account and start over with a new account

just make a new one. after so long with out use msn will delete the old account think after 60 days or 90 days with out it being signed in .

if you don't remember you password, then you can't delete you old account, it can only be deleted if you know the password by going online to you hotmail, and selecting delete my account from account settings.
you better create a new account at hotmail and start using msn IM, you don't need to remove IM from your machine, its just an interface to connect to different people it doesn't your account information.

Add and remove programs
Highlight messenger and remove it.
