That wasn't under Louis XIV, buddy. That was under the 16th. However, I do believe the economy was not doing well. His mistakes were trying to take land from the Turks.

Very, very poor. Louis was spending far more money than the country was earning. The debt just kept rising. At least, until the lower class became desperate and revolted, having both Louis and his wife, Marie Antoinette, beheaded.
