Because it's a father to son thing, down through the ages.
The statistics show numerous accidents through gun ownership.
It has destroyed many lives.
Many feel they are in control because they own guns.
Not as many have them registered, perhaps as many as 20% of all guns are licensed.
That means as a society, we are prone to violent attacks by criminals that own guns.
We'd be all better off if we carried around different types of weapons that don't kill. They are available.
Somehwere, it's accepted that killing other people is okay.
I believe that is the ultimate disgrace.

Because when our forefathers drafted the constitution, they realized that someday might come when we needed to protect ourselves from the government. However, now a days our government has laser missles and helicopters and such which we should have a right to own also (wouldn't that be interesting). Also, when you have so many races of people together with all different beliefs, you never know when one group of people might try to raise up an army against us. Such as the blacks did in Watts and after the Rodney King episode. The guy that was dragged out of his truck and beat because something a stupid cop did, should have shot those filthy savages dead! If you're like most Americans, you think it could never happen to you, and you have no problem giving up your right to have a gun.

Because so many other Americans do. Who wants to be the only person without self-protection when everyone else has the means to terrorize you?
Haven't you heard that America is the most violent of the industrialized countries?

some use guns to hunt. some use guns for recreational shooting. some people own them cause theyre crazy mother funkers, and others own them to keep them and thier home or bussines safe from those crazy mother funkers. a gun is not just for the soul purpose of killing a man. if someone is properly trained and equally responsible a gun becomes a very usefull tool.

Guns reduce crime. Criminals are deathly afraid of guns for good reason. Roughly 1 million crimes a year are stopped by the use of guns in this country. Canada, over the border has roughly twice the violent crime rate as the US because they do not own guns. That is a hell of alot of people raped, robbed, murdered and beaten because they chose to not own a gun.
Also. The only people who don't want guns around are liberals who have plans very similar to what the people who brought the nazis to power had. The pistol on my hip is an iron clad guarantee that will NEVER happen. There is roughly 1 gun for every person in the US. It is impossible for a fascist government to overthrow our democracy. They would never in a million years be able to control the population. We are, simply put, too well armed.

Because they have always been allowed to have them with permission I think.

1. Because we have the right to. 2. Protection (take a job in the inner city and then tell me you wouldn't at least consider it). 3. Sport - in fact, this is why I own one. I love to target shoot for competition. Many people hunt, as well.

this is going to sounds racist but .... its cus of black people , white people , mexicans . asians and everyone ....... its true cus i go to highschool and i honeslty am scared shitless at how many ppl i sit next to own and carry guns ..... not just small handguns ..... i mean saw offs ..... auto glocks its scary ....
so others carry em to have something to fight back with .
also cus nobody has honor and ball n e more its somhow easyer to shoot and kill than settle things with honorable one on one fistfights like we use to

So i can protect myself and my daughter against some intruder ..protect myself against a possible car-jacking as i am getting out of my car at my apartment.. i could go on but why?? this world is full of violent people who do not care who they harm..I do not want to be a statistic.....
