if you have an outside air duct, yes.

most AC's only have a condenser, compressor and fan motor outside with 2 pipes coming inside.

Not likely, the outdoor unit only run freon inside the copper line. The froen does not open up anywhere in the system (unless you get a leak), otherwise it would evaporate and be lost to the air.
If you have an odor problem, look at the unit inside your house (maybe in a special closet or attic). Could have gotten a dead animal in there or could be mold and mildew build-up in the condensate drain pan. The mold & mildew can be attacted with a bleach solution. Also, check your drain ine off the pan to make sure it is clear and able to flow the condensate out.

No the bad smell can not get into the house because the fan inside the unit is only to cool the unit itself.

No but, we had this. A small mouse got inside our clothes dryer and died. You would not believe the smell that little thing gave out.
Then there's the mouse that died in the plenium of the furnace. Check it out. Good luck.

not possible, you would no if there was a hole because the unit wouldn't be working properly. It is probably a dead mouse. they stink for about a week.
