The sparkplug shot out of my 1988 Beretta. It has shot out before, so I just got a wrench and screwed it back in. Today it shot out and I cannot get it to screw back in at all. I am afraid that the grooves on the engine are stripped because other sparkplugs (new ones) will not work either. What can I do? As a last resort, my dad suggested we could use some type of cement and just permanently install the plug, as the car is old and has 140K miles.

They are somewhat right, a helicoil kit can be used....but more importantly, WHY is the sparkplug being "shot" out?
I had a simliar problem with my van and i happened upon a person who gave me some...sparkplug standoffs. this is not the real name.., the real name eludes me at the moment. these are a 1/2 inch peice of tubing that attaches onto the end of the spark plug and into the block. perhaps your spark plugs are the wrong kind, and should be shorter as well.

Don't cement the plug in that will not work. Try going to an auto parts store and getting a spark plug hole thread chaser or a thread repair kit either of these will give you the best result.

i own a repair shop, and you need to use a Helli -coil on it to put new threads in it,this is the only way you can do it without taking the head off of it ,i get them in my shop, all the time like this, its not a hard job to do but that's the only way you can make it last other wise it will keep blowing them out,,i usually do this job for around 50 bucks, and do not have to remove the head from it,ask at any part store they,ll have what you need to do it with,,good luck,i hope this help,s,,and happy thanksgiving.

if you go to auto zone, they have a tool that will re-tap the hole. then there is a new piece that you screw in there that will allow the spark plug to screw into it. it's not hard to install. the same thing happened in my 87 Nissan. i got that kit and i never had anymore trouble out of it. holla at me if you need anymore suggestions about other stuff.

go to Napa or any auto parts store and get a helicoil kit to repair the threads or have some one you know who is mechanically inclined to screw them in for you. It is a rather easy and short procedure.

Go to a suppler (autozone or some place like that) and find a good replacement thread tool. Helli coils will do but there are better ones.

JB weld it!! it goes on like liquid, but turns into like a metal. you don't have many other options beside spending a lot of money!
