Security forces must be able to use cctv and other tools to scrutinize faces in this day and age. I would also ban all forms of religious paraphernalia, but that's too controversial to include in this question!

I am with you on both counts...

I think it is possible that SOMEONE in the world would use that to penetrate security and perhpas do damage and since that iIS the case then they have a right to mitigate that security risk. That isn't some made up hyped up way to offend people this is a very real issue that is a very real possiblity and thus is well within thier rights and responsibilities to do so.

I am a realist and as such would like to be as safe as possible and if that means someone has to take off thier head covering to be identified properly to ensure the safety of everyone else, then, well, that is the way it is...

*PS.. I would also ban religious paraphernalia too but will save that for another anwswer... because I know I am probably already going to get some thumbs down and I will be accused of hating muslims which is NOT th case, I am friends with several Muslims... and I would like THEM to be safe as well...

Why on Earth would you want to ban all religious paraphernalia? That makes you just as bad as any extremist who cannot tolerate other religions. Shame. If you can't practice tolerance just keep your *** in your own house. Wearing a cross, pentacle, Star of David or any other symbol does not harm anyone. People are overly sensitive these days and are offended by just about everything. If you have a problem with someone else's spiritual beliefs, don't talk to that person or about that topic. It's because of asinine ideas like this that there are so many issues with even simple Christmas carols being banned from schools. We can sing Hanukkah and Kwanzaa songs, but nothing for Christmas? (I'm not Christian by the way, but some of my family is.)
Banning religious paraphernalia would not help either, it's even worse because it's letting any person who holds a grudge against a certain group win by pushing everyone away from supporting his/her beliefs outwardly. You want to help people, find those idiots and stop them, don't push for banning religious symbols.
And a ban on all head coverings is stupid. What about ball caps or Halloween masks?
Furthermore, you did include it in the question merely by mentioning and must have expected some form of a response.

Well I dont know about that. Yes I do believe if you enter into a bank or a store you should not be able to wear and head covering, but then I also wear a hat sometimes so would that mean I can't wear my hat inside of course I would not complain about it. Now, if you are in court and testifying against somebody and the judge orders you to take it off you should take it off, because the accused has the right to know who is accusers are. So, if a judge throws out a case because the witness refused to take off her head gear he has that right because she refused to reveal herself to her accuser, So yeah it is a good law, but controversial

Do I have to cut my hair short so people can see my face properly now? Damn over controlling governments. And these are the freedoms we all are fighting for? The right to be recorded on as many CCTV cameras as possible.

It isn't a requirement in the Muslim religion for women to have their faces covered. And if it causes offence, good Muslims should not have their faces covered.
For those that compare nuns to Muslims, both are required to cover their hair and that isn't the problem. It is the complete covering of the face that is offensive.
This isn't an anti-Muslim rant - it's just common sense.

Yes agreed!!! Total ban on all head covering except nuns because they shave their heads. Everyone remove your hats and lets have a hat dance!!!! The only place to wear hats and veils is in a church or a religious building of any sort. Certainly NOT in a school. In Saudi all women have to wear the burkha so................when in Rome do as the Romans do...or...when in england do as the English do but not wear mini skirts lol

I do agree but only on the basis of this, if someone walked into a shop in a balaclaver (sorry can't spell it ) you would question it! wouldn't you, I'd be scared sh**less. And! young men are not allowed to wear huddies or base ball caps because it obscures the face. So... they will have to find another way to exspress them selfs.

Wait, head coverings? Does that include like ball caps? I don't think that they should be able to ban hats, or even masks. If you enter somewhere they could ask you to remove it or leave, but a all out ban is stupid. Just like the new smoking laws in Ohio.

100 000 million percent, muslims are bring totally selfish and provocative by not respecting calls for them not to wear the veil. Recently in the UK a female muslim solicitor even refused to take her veil off in court when a judge ordered it, this is an absolute disgrace that muslim women can dictate inside a courtroom.

About time a country took a stand. We won't follow though - far too many lilly livered liberals out there.

When it's a question of security over religion - security should always win.
