I bought an iPod. It froze, so apple warranteed it. Unfortunately, that one froze, as well. It would just stop playing although the screen looked like it was playing. Usually, if you let the power run out (which it will because it won't let you turn it off), when you recharge it, it works again. Overall, I was unsatisfied with my purchase.
If you want a good mp3 player, I would recommend the creative zen. I have one, and it works tons better. Even programming it is easier.

"Advise" is a verb. "Advice" is a noun.
My advice? Don't buy an iPod.
1. They _still_ haven't fixed the problems with faulty hardware or batteries.
2. A 1GB player will cost 20-25% of a Nano, never mind the top end iPod.
3. A 1GB player with MP3s recorded at 128Mpbs will play _17_ hours of music.
4. MP3 players with 1GB of RAM cost a third of what they did a year ago.
There is only one reason to buy an iPod: you plan to put _all_ your music on it *and* get rid of your computer. Unless you're doing that, it's not worth it.

iPods are great!
i take them everywhere with me; school (i only listen to it afterschool, though), home, jogging.... everywhere.
the only problem you should be concerned about right now is the bugs in iTunes 7. you should probably wait a while before downloading iTunes, since it's been all over the news, PLUS the apple discussion boards are flooded with people with problems, including ME....
so my only advice is to get the iPod, but stay away from iTunes for a while....
**if you dont believe me, google "iTunes 7 complaints" :0)
happy shopping!
ohhh and another thing!
dont get one of those "iPod socks"
they are SOOO easy to make (crocheting, knitting, sewing, all kinds of things you can make them out of) and they are not worth spending $5 over.....
P.S. get a nano. normal ones are just gigantic.... and the shuffles are way too tiny.

if ur going to jog get the nano/shuffle, the regular ipod has a hard drive (spining disk) that will become broken from the bouncing. the nano/shuffle store the music in flash that won't break/skip when jogging becuase it doesn't move. i use my for storing picts (am photographer for school newspaper), listing to music and playing games. i've had one for 3yrs now and would buy another ipod.

My advice is to get an iPod Nano. I mean, you can watch videos on TV right? Plus, the regular ones are HUGE! You definitely cannot jog with it..get a nano.
I have one and it's working great! =)
