I believe hyper activity term is result of modern age and science.Kindly address the source of so called problem(It is not a problem).
following are steps to resolve the situation....
1.Apply your own brain and dont become panicy and keep trying medicines,Doctors and specialists.Parents are the best if they are ready to think, observe and experiment.
2.How much care and attention you give to your kid,Is he getting balanced attention. Are you joining ppl in calling Hyper active and what not.DONT DO SO.
3.Let him play enough, enough and spend his energy. You may attempt sweeming and other interesting modes. But his life should be full of activities. He should get enough opportunity to spend his energy stock.
4.Send him outdoor with groups for group activities and games.Believe him. Talk to him and never curse him.Dont compare and unnecessarily criticise him.
Try for minimum six months.Keeo balanced diet ,clean diet appropriate diet for entire family.
5.Both mother and father should invove fully with the kid and dont fight among your self on his so called state and dont assign the responsibility on each other .Rather show that you are not two but one only. The kid should be proud of you.Dont put many many unnecessary restriction and let him enjoy his part of free dom.Thank you.

Too much sugar! Don't underestimate the power of sweets: a little goes a long way. Also, don't ever give him drugs of any kind: the side-effects aren't worth it. I wouldn't put MY child on drugs, especially if it isn't necessary, which it isn't. Just s-l-o-w-l-y reduce his sugar intake.

The problem isn't the boy, its his teachers. They don't challange him, they don't teach things he is interested in, and they don't teach by methods he is compatable with. Education in the West is almost entirely slanted toward girls advantage. Boys should be active, not sitting at a desk or chair for 8 hours.

I've worked with ADHD children (between 11-15) who see a Psychiatrist for their meds. Have you spoken to a specialist? Adderal XR seems to be the most used medicine nowadays for ADD/ADHD. It comes in several strengths. Good Luck!
