installing one where there isn't one takes some planning. you need a power source for a fan and a light and possibly ducting. They sell range hoods that can just blow air around or filter it through a charcoal filter, or goes out through a hole you cut in the back to a duct.
Usually just 4 screws hold up the hood to an existing cabinet.

It is pretty simple first turn off the power to the kitchen or the hood if you know which one it is.Then untighten the 4 screws holding onto it(dont take them off but unscrewed just enough to be able to move it slightly.)Then pull it towards you and then pull it down and unplug the power supply.then take the new one plug the power in and put it up where the screws are and push it back into place and tighten the screws and turn the power back on and Congratulations you have installed a new range hood! :D

you have to have something above the range to fasten it to. Usually there is a cabinet there. If it vents to the outside, you need to figure that out. If it vents back into the room, no problem. You also have to have electricity for the fan.

The vent is the hard part. If there was one there befor ethen its simple. remove and replace. if you have to vent it to the outside then you have to get creative. Some vents recirculate which isn't the best . Its just a few screws otherwise.
