LOL
When me and bf were at bike week, i'd point at a bike and say "thats a cool chopper"...he'd say "that ain't a chopper."
the second time I said it, he said "just what do you think a chopper is?"
I said, "Its a bike that goes CHOPCHOPCHOPCHOP"
He rolled!!!!!! He said "choppers are custom bikes"

Guys, i thought he was FOS at first! I made someone else confirm this as there was no reference material at bike week.
he teases me about it often because it is such a stupid mistake for a girl with a Harley dad to make!
He brings it up whenever i make him look dumb :-)

If you will listen to most people talk, after a while they will misuse a word in such a way that makes you realize that MOST people seem to not know the actual definitions of a lot of the words they say... it is kind of funny...

My girlfriend has an issue with colloquialisms... she can never quite get the meanings right, and I try not to make fun of her but sometimes I cannot help but laugh, but I don't bring it up over and over again... that is kinda mean, I think.

No doubt, your boyfriend has a few things that he thinks he knows but is wrong about and should think about that when he makes fun of you. You just need to find one and then you can even the playing field.

(1) I used to think the "undertow" was an "undertoad" or
a frogman that sucked you under the water.
(2) many kids in school (I'm not the only one) thought manilla folders were vanilla folders
(3) the most recent incident I caught myself having learned something wrong, was that positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement do not mean reward vs. punishment. Positive reinforcement means adding a positive consequence, while Negative reinforcement means taking away a negative consequence. This is very confusing in psychology, and I still get it wrong and have to look it up again.

Some of these are so funny, I laughed until I cried.

It happens all the time! 'Oxymoron', for example, means some thing you may not guess at all! (By the way, 'chopper' is also slang for 'helicopter'!) Guess first, and, then look up the meaning of 'oxymoron'!

Believe it or not I knew someone who thought that "ironic" meant "made of iron". It was my ex wife. She is dead now because I killed her for being so stupid.

SWANJARVI--Oxymoron= pretty ugly, Rap music, etc.

Yes. I thought virtually meant thoroughly . . . totally . . . without a doubt. Now I know it means "all but" that.
