That is it for me, everybody. Thank you, and goodnight.

Dating is a lot more like chess than chess itself, like in chess every piece you move will affect how the rest of the pieces in the board move, a lot of planning and thinking of consecuences are involved and every single thing you do, can and will affect the outcome. It is more like a chess match than chess itself because with chess you know your love life isn't involved, with dating it is.

I also like to think of dating as fishing...you give a little line, let your catch feel free, reel them in a little, make them feel caught up by the moment, let them go again so that they think you are not that interested and then reel them back in, until they get to tired to fight and realize there is no need to fight because they are hooked on you.

Night!

I think it's only a chess match or a game to those who approach it from that angle. I have long abandoned the drama infested approach that younger crowds tend to adapt for this type of engagement for the following reasons: you may be physically intrigued by an attractive stranger by their appearance and immediately think you like that person though you have no idea who this stranger may be so you embark upon interacting in a social setting with them pretending to be someone you're not in hopes of intriguing said target in the same manner which is stupid because you're both pretending to be someone you're not. This takes away the possibility of that person like you because you're you. After a "date" like the movies which you can't talk to each other to learn anything about UNLESS you're one of those mind numbin annoying prostitots who love to chatter through movies, you figure the company is good even though you still don't know each other from adam so hey! here's a novel idea! Let's go out be my g/f; be my b/f-whatever the case may be, and only THEN does the real knowledge of what the other is like and you find you can stand them and can't for the life of you understand why you're still with him/her. All of this more often than not ends on bitter terms and more enemies are made of this nonsense way of meeting people. It's like meeting people but refusing to get to know them. The older you get the less you will be willing to tolerate all the BS and you hopefully will have left petty drama in high school where it belongs. And you'll have a clearer understanding that it's simply easier to meet people hang out where you feel comfortable picking their brains and just have a good time learning about each other. Some friendships made will be intimate others platonic but I think the main mistake most people make is trying to fast forward through all the stuff, the thick and thin, the things that create a true bond, histories shared between friends and the like. Something as simple as a friendship takes a while to obtain and most relationships can't be had without one, unless you enjoy them void and empty. So just be you and if no one digs that to hell with them, because I'm sure you wouldn't want to be with someone who can't accept the person that you have come to be.

No. Dating is more like battleship than chess. You aim blindly at first trying to narrow down where your prey is hiding, then you calculate wisely what type of prey you are after and finally you take her down hoping she hasn't eluded you yet. Chess is a game of attrition as you try to deceive one another of what you know both of your intentions are to make the other surrender to your will.

billy-joe and i always visit the local ice cream parlor for a malt. on fridays we have to elude old man jenkins to do the boogie-woogie on the roof of the local jimmy carter memorial library. sometimes when we are feeling frisky we both gently unwrap our socks and stare at each other's ankles with silent admiration.
